Accurate provider data is crucial for the U.S. healthcare system, impacting patient access, claims processing, and fraud detection. Despite spending over $2.1 billion annually, maintaining accurate data is challenging due to frequent changes, complex data integration, and administrative burdens. A "golden record" approach, integrating data from various sources, can improve data accuracy, reduce costs, and enhance operational efficiency. Key steps include defining use cases, aligning data architecture, identifying critical data elements, building the golden record, and regularly refreshing data. This strategy offers long-term benefits and a competitive edge. https://lnkd.in/exr35k4J #healthcare #healthcareinnovation #healthcareit #healthcaredata #ehr #emr #hit #bigdata #DataAccuracy #MedicalRecords

The "data" story in healthcare continues to dominate the conversations I’m having with peers and partners in healthcare. As I’ve talked about before, it’s astounding to consider that healthcare as an industry accounts for 30% (!) of all data out there. Yet, despite its vast potential, we still haven’t cracked the code to truly “unleash” or “harness” it effectively. Regulatory frameworks, while critical for ensuring privacy and security, often create bottlenecks that stifle the creativity and innovation needed to put this data to work for our most important stakeholders: patients, providers, care teams, and beyond. As David Snow aptly points out: “VBC works when healthcare stakeholders have access to clean, enriched data that informs decision-making throughout a patient’s health journey. We have the data, but our siloed approach and the patchwork of point solutions that comprise most healthcare technology ecosystems make it difficult for even well-intentioned organizations to maximize data.” Here’s to hoping we can come together as an industry to unlock that future. #valuebasedcare #future #data #healthcare #stellarhealth

In a rare display of cooperation, leading health plans came together under the umbrella of an innovation council to address common frustrations in provider data management and credentialing. Inaccurate provider directories lead to patient difficulties in finding and accessing care. The credentialing process, where providers need verification to join a payer network, remains cumbersome and time-consuming. Duplicative efforts plague the system, with providers required to submit the same information repeatedly to different payers. CAQH proposes a solution: a universal provider roster. Providers would submit their information once and have it shared securely among payers. This would significantly reduce administrative burdens for both providers and payers.
