With fewer working days and so much to do, December always brings its own set of challenges. For those in fee collection, this month calls for thoughtful planning and a measured approach. In chambers, internal systems continue running even during the festive break, and fees due for payment accumulate daily. It’s tempting to try and get ahead, but with many solicitor clients finishing up by December 20th, they already have plenty on their plates. An influx of payment requests at this time often adds to their stress rather than alleviating it. Everyone deserves the chance to relax and recharge over the holidays—whether chambers staff or solicitor clients—and no one wants to start the new year buried under a mountain of work. That’s why the groundwork is already being laid, streamlining communications for the coming weeks and carefully planning a phased approach to fee collection in January. Here’s to navigating December and striking the right balance between work and wellbeing so that everyone can enjoy the festivities in the weeks ahead!
