Spend any time with me and you quickly learn that I believe in the power of self-efficacy and collective efficacy. The why is a story for another day but when #MollyKawahata used science and data to impart hope at #ACISCFWP, she was speaking my leadership love language (I am a data girl) and I quickly made powerful connections! Self-efficacy and the science of hope are intricately connected, each amplifying the power of the other to transform aspirations into achievements. Self-efficacy, the belief in one's ability to execute tasks and reach goals, provides the foundation for taking action. It fosters resilience, encouraging individuals to persevere through challenges with a mindset that they can influence their outcomes. The science of hope complements this by providing a framework for setting clear goals, developing strategies to achieve them, and maintaining the motivation to pursue these paths. Hope instills a sense of purpose, driving individuals to envision a future where their efforts bear fruit. When combined with self-efficacy, hope becomes a powerful catalyst for change. Together, these concepts empower individuals not only to dream but to act on those dreams with confidence and optimism - that’s backed by science! They create a positive feedback loop: as self-efficacy grows through successes, hope is reinforced, leading to even greater perseverance and achievement. The synergy between self-efficacy and hope can transform potential into reality, guiding STUDENTS, TEACHERS, & LEADERS toward fulfilling their aspirations with unwavering belief in themselves and their future. Despite significant investments and new initiatives, a recently released report, "Perspectives on Excellence Initiatives", reveals that Sweden - where I live - has not achieved the desired boost in global impact. 🔍 Key Findings from the Report: - Major political support and resource allocation have driven innovation and change in Swedish universities. - However, unlike comparable countries (Denmark, France - my home country - or Germany), Sweden's research has not strengthened its international influence. - Lessons from these initiatives highlight the need for a more consistent, long-term policy framework. 🗨️ Anders Broström, CEO of the Entreprenörskapsforum, emphasizes: "We need research policy grounded in robust evaluations and designed for long-term institutional autonomy and academic freedom.
