🚀 The Concorde proved that supersonic flight wasn't just a dream—it was a reality. Now, Boom Supersonic is set to make it the norm with the groundbreaking Overture. 🌍✈️ I had the privilege of experiencing a flight aboard British Airways' Concorde from London to New York back in 1997, and it was nothing short of a life-changing experience. Flying at twice the altitude & speed of a typical commercial jet, with the Earth's curvature visible from the window, was an unforgettable reminder of how far aviation could take us—both literally and figuratively.
When the Concorde retired in 2003, it marked a rare step backward for #humanity. Suddenly, flights across the #Atlantic took longer, and it felt as though #aviation#technology had hit pause—a stark contrast to the general trajectory of human #progress. The end of #supersonic#travel was one of those rare moments in #history when we moved slower, not faster, in our pursuit of #innovation.
But thanks to Boom Supersonic, the dream of breaking the sound barrier for commercial flights is being revived. We now stand at the brink of a new era, where both our generation and the #nextgen can hope to once again cross the globe faster and more efficiently than ever before.
Boom Supersonic "Overture"#aircraft is moving toward revolutionizing air travel once again:
🔸 #Speed: Overture is designed to fly at Mach 1.7—twice the speed of today’s fastest commercial jets, making it possible to fly from New York to London in 3.5 hours!
🔸 #Sustainability: Unlike the Concorde, Overture will run on 100% #sustainable aviation #fuel (SAF), aligning with a greener future for air travel. 🌱
🔸 #Economics: Boom aims to offer tickets at #business-class prices, making supersonic travel more accessible to a wider audience compared to Concorde's #luxury-only offering. 💼
🔸 #Efficiency: While Concorde carried just over 100 passengers, Overture is being designed for around 65–88 passengers, ensuring a smoother and more efficient journey.
The future of aviation is just around the corner, and with Boom’s progress, supersonic travel could soon become a routine part of our global experience.
