❓Did you know that Laboratory Apprenticeship programmes are open to people of all ages? ❓And did you know that we can support Apprenticeships with your current employer if you want to reskill or qualify as Lab Technicians or Analysts? It's true - and it's never too late to start a promising career in lab work, or for career changers to return to education and be qualified in this field! Here's an interesting read in the The Irish Times about the value and necessity of continuing professional development for today's workforce. Ibec's Kara McGann puts this down to rapidly changing technology, the speed at which businesses operate, and the fact that people are changing jobs and careers more often, which requires them to develop new skills or acquire new qualifications. If you are a company in Dublin, Cork, Waterford, Limerick, Athlone or surrounding counties - our programmes could be the CPD solution you are looking for to onboard new Apprentices or upskill your current employees. EPA conference takeaways - Employer perspective At the APPRENTICESHIPS Group: EPA conference, Matalan shared some useful insights from an employer perspective around EPA. I did not manage to note them all, but here are the ones I captured: ➡ Like many organisations, employers have busy periods, so a relationship with the EpAO that recognises those times and offers flexibility is important. ➡ Employers and their apprentices really appreciate post EPA feedback ➡ Where an apprenticeship standard has a project it is really important to make the project relevant to the employer ➡ No apprentice should be pushed into EPA due to funding (ILR) deadlines. They should only go through to EPA when they are ready (the employer felt that sometimes providers pressure the apprentice / employer to put the apprentice through EPA to meet the provider deadlines) ➡ Sometimes the knowledge of the apprenticeship and EPA system, and the support required by apprentices, does not always filter through to apprentice line managers. There is a place for line manager upskilling and support to ensure they can provide the support apprentices require ➡ Apprentices have skills coaches throughout their apprenticeship, but for many they step out at gateway, which the employer felt created a gap in support, awareness, understanding and feedback #endpointassessment #epa #epao #apprenticeships

Love this- but one size doesn’t fit all, also please read with the fact that it’s not as black and white as this. Also it’s obviously been written well in advance of the idea of degree apprenticeships was as widespread as what it is now. We need University as we need certain qualifications which are dealt with better with what university can provide- and of course we now also have degree apprentices who may be studying in Uni also. But so many people looking at what to do next as they get to their GCSE and please acknowledge the opportunities of apprenticeships! But also consider Construction- opportunities in every side of construction all which can be ascertained by some form of apprenticeship. #future #apprenticeship #apprentice

Congratulations to all those students who received their results today. Whilst many will be reconsidering options I reflect on the relatively new phenomenon - #apprenticeships Today an apprenticeship is a credible, trusted and exciting pathway. Had I said this a few years ago I’d not have been taken seriously. So for all those deciding on their next steps, the apprenticeship route ought to be front of mind. It is in many ways the career turbo boost which gives an unfair advantage to any apprentice over their graduate peers. And now, through the Post-Apprenticeship Recognition Scheme (PARS), those who complete apprenticeships can receive post-nominals showcasing the skills they have gained during their apprenticeship. For all students. Consider the outcome you’re seeking. There are now more options than ever #apprenticeshipsasaviableoption #morechoice #levelplayingfield Association of Apprentices UCAS

To mark the milestone registration of the 3000th female apprentice in Ireland, the National Apprenticeship Office launched a #GenerationApprenticeship campaign, showcasing the ‘Facts, Faces, Futures’ of women in Apprenticeship! This campaign drives awareness of the possibilities and opportunities that Apprenticeships offer to women and girls: ✅ Facts: Up until 2016, there were less than 30 females choosing the apprenticeship route annually, but this has exploded to almost 1000 female apprentices registering in 2022. ✅ Faces: Women are participating in Apprenticeships that were traditionally oriented towards men. ✅ Futures: Young women in school can take inspiration from these role models to shape their future careers. The increase in female participation year on year is extremely heartening, thanks to the efforts of guidance counsellors, teachers, parents and those within the apprenticeship system – educators and employers. There are now 66 in-demand careers across Generation Apprenticeship in exciting areas like engineering, recruitment, traditional craft trades and our own Biopharma programmes: ✳️ Laboratory Technician, L6 ✳️ Laboratory Analyst, L7 If you're an employer considering Apprenticeships as a talent pipeline to help sustain and grow your business, please get in touch with us: 👉https://bit.ly/47rBTSa 👉audrey.devlin@ibec.ie #Apprenticeships #3rdLevel #CAO #LeavingCert #VocationalTraining #IrelandJobs #EarnAndLearn Audrey Devlin Siobhán Dean https://lnkd.in/eKR3629D
