R&D product about Below you see the before and after of going from a THC-A live rosin extract at room temperature to an activated or decarboxylated D9-THC "live" rosin extract at room temperature. The activation occurs admittedly over a long process at extremely low temperatures in closed systems, ensuring terpene loss is non-relevant and making the extract flow runny even at room temperature! The purpose here is to demonstrate the nature of true full-spectrum extracts that possess highly therapeutic compounds. This extract can replace decarboxylated ethanol extracts that are bitter and have lost some terpenes through the processing. For that matter, it can also replace distillate for inhalation, oral, or manufacturing gummies. "Why would you want to come in with so many solventless high-quality extracts at the same price as your distillates - surely that can't be good for you guys taking market share from your ethanol lines?" - you win some, you lose some in all industries and we would rather be an innovative, in-demand, high-quality supplier and provide patients with the best possible extracts. There is a place for both - especially if the price is matched the same as our distillate strategy. We will probably look back one day and think about how we sold with conviction a product that hurt our distillate sales our "bread and butter" but at least it helps to know that this decision was about putting the best possible product out there, for patients. "Are live rosin extracts easy to work with?" - Just look at this video - room temperature is runny, which means pharmacy compounding is easier to work with, and using it in our formulations for oral formulations is easier and filling for inhalation. "Isn't this extract just for savvy cannabis users?" - I think people think this because savvy cannabis users have done the research and they know that this format is probably the most therapeutic option available. "What can solventless extracts, or rosins be used for in the medical cannabis industry and how does one use them?" - As though you were using your other extracts. There is something truly unique, and special about the therapeutic ability of these full-spectrum extracts. I am annoyed I only got the conviction about 2 years ago as 6 years ago, when the full-spectrum debates were happening, this crossed our minds but hadn't scientifically gone into it - now the data is impossible to ignore. There is a lot of intellectual stimulation around quantifying these extracts besides just the terpene and cannabinoid levels. 𝗘𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗺𝗶𝘅𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀 Tablet disintegration is most often required to divide a tablet into suitably small sub-units that facilitate achievement of the desired drug dissolution rate. While semi-synthetic or synthetic super-disintegrants are commonly the materials of choice in the pharmaceutical world, there is a strong demand for options of more natural origin for nutraceutical applications. Currently only few natural disintegrants are available and these sometimes do not achieve optimum disintegration due to lack of disintegrant action. To provide satisfactory disintegrant action one or more disintegration mechanisms can be facilitated. Swelling and wicking are usually considered the main drivers in tablet disintegration while strain recovery, dissolution mechanisms and the addition of surfactants are also reported to provide some disintegrative action. Enabling synergistic effects of materials assisting swelling and wicking effects a mixture of natural materials (containing gellan gum, potato fiber, cellulose powder and natural potato starch) was optimized regarding the disintegration of various tablet formulations. The work presented here shows the disintegrant effect of this natural disintegrant mixture (CompactCel® DIS) in comparison to the disintegrant effect of a selection of natural disintegrant materials on their own (two types of starch and two types of cellulose). 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗺𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗼𝗹 𝗛𝗼𝘁-𝗠𝗲𝗹𝘁 𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗘𝗺𝘂𝗹𝘀𝗶𝗳𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗿𝘂𝗴 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗢𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 Cannabidiol (CBD) is a highly lipophilic compound with poor oral bioavailability, due to poor aqueous solubility and extensive pre-systemic metabolism. The aim of this study was to explore the potential of employing Hot Melt Extrusion (HME) technology for the continuous production of Self Emulsifying Drug Delivery Systems (SEDDS) to improve the solubility and in vitro dissolution performance of CBD. Accordingly, different placebos were processed through HME in order to obtain a lead CBD loaded solid SEDDS. Two SEDDS were prepared with sesame oil, Poloxamer 188, Gelucire®59/14, PEO N80 and Soluplus®. Moreover, Vitamin E was added as an antioxidant. The SEDDS formulations demonstrated emulsification times of 9.19 and 9.30 min for F1 and F2 respectively. The formed emulsions showed smaller droplet size ranging from 150–400 nm that could improve lymphatic uptake of CBD and reduce first pass metabolism. #excipients #Gelucire by Gattefossé Pharmaceuticals #Soluplus by BASF Pharma Solutions
