Berg Propulsion Retrofit Contributes To Substantial Efficiency Gains Read The Full Article:- https://lnkd.in/e975A5VN "The Henneke Rambow project is an effective example of collaboration between owners, charterers and systems integrators, working together to optimise ship performance," commented Mathieu Gubert, VP Chartering CMA CGM. David Sakandelidze, Account Manager, Energy & Efficiency, BERG Propulsion: "Existing propeller blades were replaced with profiles that are hydrodynamically optimized for the vessel's full operational profile" Sven Rambow, Reederei Rambow Bereederungs GmbH & Co. KG, said: "Following this upgrade, Henneke Rambow is demonstrating a remarkable performance improvement which ensures that this vessel will be one of the most efficient of this type for the decade ahead." "The vital role smaller container ships play in global logistics can sometimes be overlooked, but in this case the enhanced performance is extraordinary, with our data indicating that the overall post-project efficiency gains are substantial," said Magnus Thoren, Account Manager, Energy & Efficiency, BERG Propulsion. Martin Linder Sales Manager, Energy & Efficiency, BERG Propulsion, added: "While there is no one-size-fits-all solution, BERG is helping ship owners by assessing potential efficiency improvement options during this transitional period in ship decarbonisation." Commercial vessels, whether used for offshore energy projects or traditional maritime transport, vary widely in size, shape and performance. While there are many differences, there are many similarities, too. Namely, they are generally ‘expensive’ capital pieces of equipment, and the biggest single cost centers on selecting, installing and maintaining the drivetrain. In this interview, Regal Rexnord’s Bob Lennon provides insights on lifecycle maintenance considerations to ensure reliable performance and long life of a commercial vessels’ drivetrain. #offshore #marine #shipsandshipping #drivetrain #maritime

Through our dialogues with owners and charterers, we’ve seen a clear growing interest to install Wind Assisted Propulsion Systems (WAPS). Due to recent enhancements and second-generation technologies, reductions in production costs, and the integration with weather routing, the average return on investment (ROI) has significantly improved for WAPS. Consequently, an increasing number of vessel owners are currently considering this tech for newbuilds, as well as for their existing fleets. Additionally, as EU regulations start taking effect, particularly Fuel EU Maritime which specifically incentivizes WAPS, ROIs improves even further. At Njord, we have conducted multiple design studies on various vessel types; and a recent example, in a study done on a MR Tanker, we found the ROI to be 3.2 years when traded 50% in EU. What to keep in mind when assessing if WAPS is the right fit for your vessels or not: 1. Make sure to assess the business case from all commercial angles to settle on the ROI, hereunder current and future trading of the vessel, current and forecasted fuel costs, regulatory impact, negotiated equipment costs, integration cost, operating cost, to name a few. 2. Opt for suppliers with proven track records. Research the supplier’s history, client testimonials, and past projects. Look for those who have successfully implemented WAPS on similar vessels and routes. 3. The market offers numerous technologies; ensure the chosen system aligns with your vessel’s operational needs and trading routes. Currently, Rotors, Suction sails, Rigid Sails and even Kites, are available on the market. Based on our experience, we’ve found that proactively integrating WAPS is not just a regulatory compliance strategy but a significant operational enhancement. Careful selection of technology and suppliers is crucial to maximizing the benefits of WAPS.

𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲.... A fuel oil efficiency monitoring is only as effective as its end user. The Fuel & Energy Efficiency Monitoring System from Eefting Energy can there fore be accessed remotely. We also help our clients with operational support. But the most important factor is the captain and his mates using the information correctly and adjusting power and speed where necessary. Therefore instructing the ships officers is essential. Here you see our colleague Bert Hoving, after a long day of installation and commissioning works, taking the time to give the captain of m.v. Oderborg from Wagenborg Shipping a thorough explanation on the system. #fuelefficiency #shipperformance #inlandshipping
