According to Indian Electricity Rule 32, clause 2, inserting a fuse or switch in the neutral conductor can lead to severe electrical shock, even after the fuse melts! The Reason: When a leakage current occurs, the fuse in neutral melts first, BUT the appliance remains connected to live mains! If someone touches the appliance to investigate, they'll receive a severe electric shock. Key Takeaway: For safety reasons, NEVER connect a fuse to neutral! Exceptions: 1. Testing purposes 2.
