We all know how hard our Hanford Police Department works to keep our community safe. But what you may not know is just how busy they are in 2024. Every day, a Hanford Police patrol officer averages 13 calls for service, conducts four officer-initiated contacts and makes two traffic stops. The department had 46,975 calls for service in 2023, up from 44,989 in 2022. Some of the most common calls include: Disturbances, Suspicious or Unwanted Person, homeless issues, and 911 hangups. Patrol officers do everything they can to respond to high priority calls as fast as possible—the average response time in 2023 was eight minutes. But the department is spread thin. With 65 allocated sworn positions, the department has 1.08 officers per 1,000 people, compared to the national average of 1.5 officers per 1,000 people. Only three new patrol officer positions have been added in the last 25 years, even as Hanford’s population has increased by more than 50%. 🌟 Understanding the Stars on an Indian Police Officer's Uniform 🌟 Ever wondered what the stars on an Indian police officer's uniform signify? These stars aren’t just decorative—they represent the officer's rank and serve as a visible indicator of their experience, authority, and position within the police force. From one-star officers to those with three or more stars, the number of stars can tell you a lot about the officer’s role and responsibilities: ⭐ One Star: Typically seen on the uniform of a Sub-Inspector. ⭐⭐ Two Stars: Represent the rank of an Inspector. ⭐⭐⭐ Three Stars: Signify higher ranks like Superintendent of Police (SP). Each rank comes with distinct duties and leadership roles in maintaining law and order, ensuring public safety, and upholding justice.
