At Tuesday's National Press Club of Australia's event, Ausmed's very own CEO Will Egan, posed an interesting question to Prof Fiona Wood AO (Wounds Australia Board Director): Should we focus mandatory CPD hours on specific learning outcomes, similar to a national priority? 🤔 With 2.2 million healthcare professionals in Australia and a $6.6 billion impact on health and aged care budgets, there’s a pressing need to rethink education on critical topics like wound care — especially during National Wound Awareness Week. 🩹 As the CPD standards come under review by AHPRA, there's an opportunity to introduce an interprofessional standard that could allocate a minimum of 2 hours to “National Healthcare Learning Priorities.” 📈 This could empower the Department of Health and Aged Care to target learning where it’s needed most, driving change and improving outcomes across the sector. How could focused CPD help transform our healthcare system? Share your thoughts! 👇💡 #Healthcare #CPD #Education #Nursing #ProfessionalGrowth #AHPRA #WoundCare #LearningPriorities #Ausmed

Basic Life Support training via Imperial Healthcare coming up. Having had to deal with 3 out of hospital collapses (2 male adults and 1 child between 2018 to date) I can highly recommend it. I had to call for an emergency ambulance on all three occasions, one male was an ex colleague, with a low sodium, unconscious and fitting, the other male was a neighbour who had fallen down the communal stairs after a night duty, again unconscious having sustained a head injury, and the child collapsed on a bus on his way to school which I was also on at the time. I do not know the cause of the child’s arrest, it could have been many reasons, but at the time the most important task is to deliver basic life support. There are sometimes no tools available immediately and you have to rely on your basic life support training. These scenarios do not always happen in hospitals, so always better to be prepared. #traditionalbls #hospitals #outofhospitalscenarios

In a bid to have competent pre-hospital care providers that you can trust with your loved one's life, the trainers or teachers too should be competent to be able to pass on relevant skills and Knowledge. Therefore, field officer trainings are very crucial for people who supervise EMT and Paramedic students whenever they're doing their clinical practice. This training introduce clinical mentors and supervisors to pedagogical skills and ways of handling all kinds of students as they instill skills and knowledge to them. Below is a pioneer group that just concluded their FTO training in Uganda posing for a group photo with their trainers from #Wetzlar school of paramedics - Germany. And the team is comprised of health care workers from departments where these students are allocated for their practice like #Ambulance stations, Call and Dispatch center, A&E, ICU, NICU, Labour ward not forgetting teachers that train them from #Lubaga school of emergency medical services. Partners like #Malteser International who support such initiatives do a tremendous job for the betterment of robust EMS system. As #OHEC - AFEM team, we feel so energized when our field is being support and taken care of in all aspects because we are sure, half baked people won't infiltrated us to destabilize the system. We need more FTOs to support already existing teachers/tutors in the field. #Malteser International #Ministry of Health - Uganda #Lubaga hospital EMS training institute #OHEC - AFEM #Lubaga hospital #Nsambya hospital, #Nsambya hospital training school, #KCEMT #KMTC #KCCA #Naguru Call and Dispatch center #Malteser (Wetzlar) school of paramedics
