Let me share a quick story. 🙌 When Munchbox started, it wasn’t all shiny kitchens and streamlined systems. We had a basic setup and a lot of heart. Honestly, the first few days felt overwhelming. 😅 But we focused on what mattered most—cooking fresh, homestyle meals that people love. With every challenge, we found new ways to improve. And guess what? Those early struggles taught us resilience and creativity. Here’s what I’ve learned: You don’t need perfection to start. You need purpose. 💪 If you’re waiting for the “right time” or the “perfect setup,” stop. Start where you are, with what you have, and let your passion lead the way. 😊 Your journey starts when you do. #MunchboxJourney #StartupLife #LinkedInCommunity #ValueDrivenBusiness

While working in Waterloo eight years ago, I spent my lunch breaks at Lower Marsh Market and Southbank Centre Food Market, soaking in the vibrant atmosphere and enjoying flavors from around the world. Those moments sparked an idea that would eventually become Popin. Popin is about putting pop-up businesses on the map—literally and figuratively. Whether it’s the mouthwatering aromas of street food, the bold spices of a new cuisine, or the sweet indulgence of a local dessert stand, Popin helps you find these incredible flavors in real-time. But it's not just about food. From live music performances to pop-up art exhibits, we connect you to the entertainment that makes your community vibrant and alive. What makes Popin unique is that we’re not just a digital platform—we’re an innovation hub for an often overlooked business sector. Pop-ups bring something fresh and exciting to local economies, yet they often struggle with visibility and reach. That’s where Popin steps in. We’re developing cutting-edge technology to help small businesses thrive, making it possible for them to compete with larger, more established brands. We've learned a lot from the incredible entrepreneurs we've connected with along the way, and we've made some exciting changes to our platform based on their feedback. We're thrilled to be bringing cutting-edge tech to the table—and we’ll be launching soon! A huge shoutout to Jeffrey Igbokwuwe and Faithful Nyama, who have been working together tirelessly to build our social media presence and develop meaningful connections with pop-ups and local communities. Their professionalism, creativity, and hard work have been essential in spreading the word about Popin and creating a vibrant ecosystem that supports small businesses. If you love supporting local, discovering new flavors, and experiencing entertainment that energizes your neighborhood, join us on this journey. 🎉 Everywhere I go, it’s Popin! https://www.whatspopin.app P.S. A big thanks to Glue for producing the amazing video that captures the spirit of what Popin is all about. 🎥 #Popin #SupportLocal #PopupMagic #FoodAndFlavors #Community #RealTimeExploration #StartupJourney #SmallBusinessInnovation #EWIGIPopin

Summer Series: #MyLocalCircularLife Twenty odd years ago, I bought a Tilley hat. My father had one too. This hat has been with me through countless adventures and #Staycations, and its durability has truly stood the test of time. The label inside tells you to put it in your will, because if it ever wears out they will replace it! You have to love the "Canadian Persnicketiness" that make Tilley hats so exceptional. 🇨🇦 #ProudCanadian #NoAffiliation I have not tried any of their other products, but if this is an example of the quality, they are doing things right. ‘Designed for Longevity’ is a Circular Economy strategy - making products that last! We need to see more of this. #OverConsumption is a major issue. Over the years, I have pared my wardrobe down to essentials and classic pieces that you see me in again and again. My favourite black dress that I can dress up or down has been repaired more than once, and having a #CapsuleWardrobe is something I love. However.. I do not take for granted the privilege of being able to purchase such quality items. Not everyone has the means to invest in quality goods, The Sam Vimes "Boots Theory" explains how those with limited financial resources often end up spending more over time because they can only afford cheaper, less durable products. It highlights the economic injustice where those with less financial means must repeatedly purchase inferior items, ultimately spending more than those who can afford to buy quality from the start. Understanding this disparity was part of the motivation for us to start a "Library of Things" helping to bridge this gap in our community - where more than 10% of the population live at or below the poverty line. We aim to enable access to the things people need without having to own them. Ideally this will enable those with tighter budgets to spend their money on high-quality items they might not be able to afford otherwise. Our Library of Things is also stocked with many products that are built to last, easily repaired and able to withstand the test of time, it supports those in need and promotes sustainability through sharing and brings our community together enhancing shared norms and values. What item have you purchased that you have had for years and know will be your go-to for years to come? Follow this hashtag #MyLocalCircularLife to read more posts in this Summer Series, and use it to add your post to the list ;) #BootsTheory #CircularEconomy #TilleyHats #CircularRegions

How did Red Bay Coffee Evolve from a Small Garage Startup to a Community Staple in Oakland? 2. Red Bay Coffee Red Bay Coffee, a unique and impactful coffee business based in Oakland, California, was founded in 2014 by Keba and Rachel Konte. Their journey is not just about selling coffee; it’s a narrative of community building, social justice, and entrepreneurial spirit. The story of Red Bay Coffee is a testament to the power of vision, resilience, and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances, especially in the face of global challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic. Origins and Mission Keba, an African American native of the San Francisco Bay Area, and Rachel, originally from Copenhagen, Denmark, started Red Bay Coffee in their garage. This small start was bolstered by family, friends, and a successful crowdfunding campaign. For Keba, owning a business was more than a commercial venture; it was a way to impact his community positively. He envisioned Red Bay Coffee as a platform for diversity, inclusion, social and economic restoration, and entrepreneurship in the coffee industry. Growth and Community Impact Red Bay Coffee rapidly became a community staple, known for its tagline “Beautiful Coffee to the People.” Their public roastery in Oakland turned into a hub for cultural events, including food pop-ups, concerts, magazine releases, and more. This growth was a reflection of their commitment to quality, sustainability, and community engagement. They source their coffee directly from countries with the ideal climate and elevation for high-grade specialty coffees, supporting and empowering local growers. Pandemic Challenges and Ecommerce Pivot The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 posed significant challenges for Red Bay Coffee. Like many businesses, they had to close their shops and find new ways to connect with customers. This period marked a strategic pivot to ecommerce. Recognizing the need to maintain their community presence and reach, they leveraged their partnership with Amazon, enabling them to connect with a broader audience. This move was crucial and resulted in substantial growth, nearly doubling their sales year-over-year from 2020 to 2021. When Orly Peters and her husband moved to St. Louis in 2015, they felt disconnected from home, and authentic food became a source of comfort during their transition. This feeling — shared by so many who yearn for a taste of home — led Orly to launch her company, Habuyta- A Bite of Home. As a 2022 graduate of Square One Bootcamp, Orly refined the ideas for Habuyta and created “the Etsy for home cooks” to address homesickness, fight loneliness, and foster connections through the universal language of food. At its core, Habuyta provides a blueprint for home cooks to launch and promote their businesses. Importantly, it also helps provide meaningful social connections: Habuyta creates a sense of home through food-centric experiences. The marketplace connects importers, suppliers, and home cooks, offering authentic ingredients and facilitating connections. Orly says: “Thanks to the invaluable insights gained from the SQ1 Bootcamp, I've had a significant realization that has profoundly impacted my business strategy. Understanding the importance of prioritizing branding and marketing before launching the Habuyta app has been a game-changer. “Consequently, I've successfully developed a compelling name and logo for my business. Moreover, I've commenced the branding and marketing process, resulting in substantial interest and traction. “I am immensely grateful for the transformative experience provided by the SQ1 Bootcamp. It has empowered me to make strategic adjustments and take crucial steps toward the success of my venture.” . . . #fuelinginnovation #SquareOneBootcamp #SquareOneIGNITE #SQ1 #smallbusiness #STLpreneur #CortexSquareOne

Grofers became Blinkit—and completely redefined the delivery game. In 2021, Grofers realized it wasn’t enough to just bring groceries to people’s doors. They needed to do it faster—much faster. Customers didn’t want to wait hours, or even half an hour. They wanted their essentials now. That’s when Grofers made a bold move: a rebrand that didn’t just change the name but shifted the entire company’s focus. Enter Blinkit, with a promise to deliver everything from snacks to household items in just 10 minutes. To make this happen, Blinkit optimized everything—setting up dark stores, redesigning their app for speed, and carefully mapping out delivery routes for efficiency. The goal was simple: no more waiting, no more compromises. What started as a risky bet soon turned into their defining strength. People didn’t just like it—they loved it. Blinkit’s success wasn’t about a shiny new logo. It was about seeing where the future was headed, taking a leap, and delivering something no one else could: time. #RebrandingDoneRight #Blinkit #InstantDelivery #StartupSuccess #CustomerFirst #NEC #ECell #IITBombay

Dave's entrepreneurial journey began at age 9 with the realization that his dwindling candy supply would soon require replenishment. Understanding the elementary school lunchroom was an untapped market with significant demand he launched and grew rapidly, gaining notoriety and unwelcome attention from school administration who promptly shuttered the budding enterprise as it compromised vending machine margins. In 2011, he built an Internet retail company from only $10,000 in savings out of a garage. It was awarded the Weatherhead 100 for fastest growing company by 2286.28% from 2012 to 2017. In 2020, fueled by a 35% pandemic growth spike, he successfully exited. After which, Dave relocated to his second home in Brazil where he enjoys spending time with his wife Flavia and their two children. . 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐥: https://lnkd.in/d3emFm2m...
