🌟 Accountability: The Backbone of a Thriving BNI Chapter 🌟 This week, during our in-person meeting, we discussed our #Accountability core value. Within our #BNI chapter, the commitment to holding ourselves and one another accountable is what sets us apart and drives our collective achievements. 💡 Why Accountability Matters: Consistency in Engagement: Regular attendance and active participation ensure that we are always there to support and learn from each other. Quality Referrals: By committing to understanding each other’s businesses deeply, we provide quality referrals that lead to meaningful connections and opportunities. Personal Growth: Holding ourselves accountable means setting goals, taking action, and continuously striving to improve, both personally and professionally. 🤝 Together, We Achieve More: In our BNI chapter, we embrace accountability by: Setting Clear Expectations: From attendance to referral goals, having clear guidelines helps us stay on track. Offering Constructive Feedback: Providing and receiving honest feedback helps us grow and improve. Celebrating Successes: Recognizing and celebrating each other's achievements fosters a positive and motivating environment. It can be hard as business owners to be accountable to our own, long-term business goals vs. the short-term demands of the day-to-day. And by holding ourselves and each other accountable, we create a culture of trust, reliability, and excellence. It’s this culture that propels our chapter forward, ensuring that every member and their businesses thrive. If you're ready to make accountability more a part of your business growth plan, come visit a chapter and see what it looks like in person. 🚀 #BNI #Accountability #Networking #BusinessGrowth #ProfessionalDevelopment #Teamwork

Professionalism: The Key to Building Trust and Success In the fast-paced world of entrepreneurship, we often focus on innovation, growth, and ambition. But there’s one factor that holds everything together—professionalism. Whether you're dealing with your team, clients, or partners, professionalism is what builds trust and sustains long-term relationships. It's not just about showing up on time or meeting deadlines (although that’s important); it's about how we conduct ourselves every single day. It’s about being reliable, respectful, and maintaining integrity—especially when no one is watching. In my journey with Chai Kaapi, professionalism has been key to navigating challenges and establishing strong partnerships. It's the commitment to doing what’s right, even when it's difficult. It’s about accountability and owning both successes and failures. Let’s remind ourselves that our reputation is built on how we treat others and how we handle difficult situations. Ultimately, professionalism is not just a standard; it’s a choice we make every day. What does professionalism mean to you? I'd love to hear your thoughts. #Professionalism #Leadership #BusinessEthics #Trust #Growth

𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐲 𝐁𝐍𝐈 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲 As I sit back and reflect on my journey with Business Network International (BNI), I am filled with a sense of gratitude for the invaluable experiences, learnings, and connections it has brought into my life over the past couple of years. 𝑰𝒏 𝑱𝒂𝒏𝒖𝒂𝒓𝒚 2022, I received a call from Viraj, inviting me to join a BNI community meeting. Little did I know then that this initial interaction would mark the beginning of a transformative journey. From attending online meetings during the challenging times of the pandemic to becoming an active member in February 2022, every step along the way has been enriching. One of the key concepts I learned during my time with BNI is 𝐕𝐂𝐏 - 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲. It taught me the importance of establishing a presence, building trust, and ultimately, reaping the rewards of meaningful connections. Through giving before receiving and engaging in one-to-one interactions with fellow members, I witnessed firsthand how fostering genuine relationships leads to business opportunities and personal growth. 𝑴𝒚 𝒋𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒏𝒆𝒚 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏 𝑩𝑵𝑰 𝒕𝒐𝒐𝒌 𝒐𝒏 𝒗𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒐𝒖𝒔 𝒅𝒊𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔, 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒊𝒑𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒊𝒏 𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒎𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒆𝒎𝒃𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒑 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒊𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒖𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒕𝒂𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒖𝒑 𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒑 𝒓𝒐𝒍𝒆𝒔 𝒂𝒔 𝑽𝒊𝒄𝒆 𝑷𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑷𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕. These roles challenged me to step out of my comfort zone, hone my leadership skills, and contribute to the success of our chapter. I am deeply grateful to the individuals who supported and guided me throughout this journey - from family members like my nephew Viraj who introduced me to BNI, to mentors and fellow committee members who provided invaluable insights and encouragement along the way. Moreover, my experience with BNI has not only enhanced my networking abilities but also enriched my understanding of accountability, teamwork, and results-driven approaches. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐁𝐍𝐈 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐮𝐛𝐭𝐞𝐝𝐥𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐲 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐬𝐞𝐭. As I look ahead, I am excited to continue leveraging the lessons learned from BNI to further enhance my networking efforts and make a positive impact in both my professional and personal spheres. #BNI #Networking #ProfessionalDevelopment #Gratitude #Leadership #PersonalGrowth #BusinessOpportunities #businessnetworking #nova #novaformworks

Get your team to turn vision into action Last October I took charge as the President of my BNI (Business Networking International) chapter called BNI Maharaja. I was partnered by two amazing gentlemen, Pradeep Jatewadkar as the VP and Gokul Ashok as the Secretary-Treasurer. But all three of us were relatively new members who were handed important responsibilities. We were riddled with questions on how to play our roles, how to steer a group that had senior members & most importantly how to make a significant contribution. By the end of our six-month term in March 2024 - we had added five new members to our chapter. The chapter scored well on all parameters, including participation and engagement. Many chapter members & leaders from other similar chapters wanted to learn from us. How did three newbies manage to deliver good results in what is essentially a team effort? We articulated a clear and crystallised vision. Our vision was to achieve growth (add new members), increase diversity (bring in women entrepreneurs as members), and engagement (increase participation in social activities that go beyond business). While as the leading team, it was easy for us to remember these nuances, we needed a war-cry. And the most important goal of all was to reach the number 51 as that would have earned our chapter the ‘Platinum’ distinction. So we wanted everyone to remember this mission. That’s how the term ‘Mission 51’ was born. At every given opportunity I delivered quick notes about our mission. Our term opened with a short keynote from me about ‘Mission 51’. We also conducted monthly reviews and delivered a half-term update in front of the chapter. All chapter members not only remembered but reminded others of the mission. The leadership team got to be known as the ‘Mission 51’ guys. But most importantly, our members managed to add seven new members to the chapter. While we did not hit the 51 number, we got close to it. It does seem that in the next few months, we would be a 51-member strong chapter. So the vision was ours, but our team delivered. So, create catchphrases that communicate a clear and crystallised version of your vision. ‘Mission 51’ defined our leadership and helped our chapter rally around this one BIG goal. We communicated it regularly in the most interesting ways, but the catchphrase made it easy for people to remember what they had to do. How do you come up with a catchphrase? Not all catchphrases are equal. Some express an emotion, others remind us of a goal. Yet others, share what you or your brand stands for. The idea is to get to the core idea or action and turn that into your catchphrase. In our case, it was achieving the goal of being a 51-strong chapter. In other cases, it could be ‘Yes, we can’ (Barack Obama’s campaign slogan), or ‘Good begets good’ (Cred’s brand tagline). If you need help with communicating your vision in a way that incites action from your team - get in touch with me. My DM's are open.

PLEASE SHARE ***Calling all SME business owners and leaders like myself and David*** Team Upp is currently working on a new business pitch which has us thinking about the general day-to-day 'emotional' challenges faced by SME business leaders and owners and we would really welcome your thoughts if you work in an SME as an owner or senior leader. Can you share with me in one sentence what you struggle with most as an individual, a human being a real person responsible for an SME business. So not broader business challenges including the usual things like cashflow, keeping the orders coming in, finding new clients and keeping current clients happy etc.. I'm ideally wanted to tap into more 'emotional' raw and honest answers. So for example the stress of having to always have answers to every problem, the ever constant need to know at least a little bit about a lot, keeping yourself motivated as well as your team when times are challenging, needing to be constantly switched on, battling imposter syndrome and even how lonely and isolating it can feel running an SME business at times. I'd really appreciate any insights anyone is willing to share and huge thanks in advance :)
