We love recreating outside and seeing wildlife, but if we’re not careful, our winter recreation pursuits can cause stress and harm to wildlife. Minimize your impact on wintering wildlife by respecting seasonal closures. Seasonal closures on trails and state wildlife areas are a critical tool utilized by land managers to protect wildlife during the difficult winter months, and these closures only work when they are respected by the public. As human development continues to spread, areas in which wildlife can find refuge during the harsh winter months become fewer and far between. While all closure areas are well marked with gates and signs, there are violations every year. Don't be a grinch! Do your research and become familiar with where big game wintering zones are in your area before recreating. There are plenty of other trails where closures are not in place for people to recreate on during the winter months. #WinteringWildlife #RecreateResonsibly #Colorado #ColoradoWildlife #ColoradoWildlifeFederation #WildlifeConservation #OutdoorAdventures #WildlifeManagement #CWF

PROTECT WILDLIFE - Use AMBER colored Lights Fish 🐠 and Wildlife and other government agencies are cracking down on non-turtle safe lighting. If you can't produce a Wildlife Friendly Certification for your LED's, your clients could be in violation and face fines. 🚫 By using "Wildlife Safe" lighting, especially in areas known for migratory wildlife, you can light up landscapes AND limit any disruptions to the animal's migratory habits and patterns. 🐦 Limit lights that attract unwanted bugs, install amber colored lights with wavelengths between 585-620 nanometers tested to limit wildlife disturbances. Low-intensity wildlife lighting also limits disruptions to nocturnal animals and baby wildlife during hatching season. It's been a while since I have been documenting professionally- the wildlife around my house day by day, morning by morning, and spot by spot, the very tree across my yard. I locked eyes with the animals many mornings at 5 am, observing them and witnessing almost their daily behaviors- over and over again. I was inspired to write about and document what I've been seeing. I filmed-professionally- the wildlife for long hours on different occasions; during the storm, at midnight, at sunset, at sunrise, in the rain and more, catching them in their elements. One day, I came up with a concept: 'the experience of neighborship' with the animals and noted: Everyone sees the ravens and hears the hawk, walks by the coyotes, or pauses to cherish the view en route on a bike. For many, they are the wildlife in a city. For us, they are neighbors. When you are neighbors with them, you get to lock eyes. The tree across is a home. You think of them during the storm; watch out when you drive down the road and check in just like you'd do with your human neighbors. Then, I cut this video: https://lnkd.in/gckdzNY5 [I'm a professional director, producer and editor with more than 15 years of experience of shooting, editing and directing]. I curated my photos and professionally printed them. Then, I portrayed myself at the very locations - https://lnkd.in/gKAAzzXs where I documented the wildlife. I'd like to make this project happen by my whole heart. If you know anyone - a private investor potentially interested in human and animal connection, city wildlife and more, a company, a community, an institution, a program at a museum or fund, please let me know. I'm adding the footages below to get more of your attention. *no animals were interrupted, fed or approached* #presidiosf #presidioliving #wildlifedocumentation #wildlifeinacity

A mature elk can weigh over 1000 lbs (~450 kg). Imagine hitting an elk as it tries to cross the TransCanada Highway (TCH). Yikes. The good news is that as a result of wildlife crossing on the TCH, particularly through Banff National Park, large wildlife x vehicle collisions have decreased by 95%. That's a massive and positive decrease. Wildlife crossings work and elk start to use them even before construction is complete. There's a new wildlife crossing and fencing on the TCH east of Canmore nearing completion (see story linked). It's been in the works for over 10 years including research, planning and construction. And the AB government (which admittedly isn't always nature-positive) has more wildlife crossings planned or in the works which is great news. As gross as this sounds, this helps us work towards making roadkill a thing of the past. https://lnkd.in/g8NFWqMt

One of the primary ethical considerations is the design of animal habitats. Enclosures must be spacious and enriched with features that mimic the animals' natural environments. This includes providing adequate shelter, appropriate substrates, vegetation, and structures for climbing, hiding, and exploring. Enrichment activities, such as puzzle feeders and sensory stimuli, are essential for preventing boredom and encouraging natural behaviors. #dogtoywithnailfile #floppyfishdogtoy #refillbottledogtoy #donutdogtoy #carrotfarmdogtoy #llamadogtoy #toysforherdingdogs #caterpillardogtoy #dogtoysforpool #petsafari #petsafarilife #pet #safari #life #pets https://lnkd.in/gPy_rhcT
