At Baylor Scott & White The Heart Hospitals, we’re committed to delivering exceptional care, and our latest initiative is making an impact for patients with cardiogenic shock. Led by Suzanne Krais, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, CCRN, Chief Nursing Officer and VP of Patient Services, our multidisciplinary team developed a shock team activation process that cut diagnosis times by over 50% for these critically ill patients. It is time nursing practice is highlighted, via cost measures , for the important roll bedside care is to improved outcomes. If C-suites begin to recognize the organizations reimbursements are not just numbers they should reflect the full integration of evidence based care at the bedside; that is the RN given the support and correct tools and resources who drive that outcome measure engine.
