🏳️⚧️ Fighting for Transgender Youth and Families in Florida 🏳️⚧️ On October 2nd, Florida families filed a brief with the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, urging them to strike down the state's ban on medical care for transgender youth. This ban was found by Federal District Court Judge Robert Hinkle to be driven by anti-transgender bias and lacking any medical basis. 🚨 Case Highlights: 👉 In a thorough 105-page decision, Judge Hinkle declared the ban unconstitutional, noting it causes unnecessary suffering and is not supported by medical evidence. 👉 The State of Florida's appeal means the ban is currently in effect, impacting countless families like Plaintiff Jane Doe, who stated, "I love my child and want to get her the healthcare she needs." 👉 Evidence showed the Board of Medicine's process was biased, deviating from standard practices to enforce these harmful restrictions. We stand with the families challenging these restrictions, represented by GLBTQ Legal Advocates & Defenders, Human Rights Campaign Foundation, National Center for Lesbian Rights, Southern Legal Counsel, and Lowenstein Sandler LLP.
