So, are acoustically transparent screens worth the extra price tag? 👉 Absolutely! An acoustically transparent screen is an essential component for a real home cinema. The goal is to achieve the ’suspension of disbelief’ for the viewer, so they are fully immersed into the content. Just like in a commercial cinema, the loudspeakers are positioned behind the screen, therefore when the actors speak, the sound appears to come from their mouths! Sometimes, home cinemas are constructed with the loudspeakers exposed either side of a screen and with one below, which doesn't help to create the perfect illusion. However, firing the clear sound of a loudspeaker through a screen can have it’s drawbacks... In effect, you are covering up the speaker with thick materials - so screens come ‘perforated’ with thousands of tiny holes across the vinyl surface. It’s a balance of how much sound to let through and how much light to not lose when projecting onto the surface! Then there’s woven fabric screens, where the woven material naturally has the ability to let lots of sound come through, but enough ’surface’ to project onto. So clearly, a screen that’s not acoustically transparent will yield the best image quality, with no pixels lost! Loudspeakers particularly lose HF (high frequencies) when placed behind a screen, so the character of the speaker changes. This can be partially compensated for with some analogue or digital equalisation to bring some HF ‘back in’. Thankfully, for most movies and TV, the dialogue is the key audio component and this isn't totally dependant on high frequencies. This is why speakers behind a screen can work so well. If your customer wants to play a lot of music though, they may prefer to use another room or have exposed speakers and live with the decreased aesthetics! 👉 At CAVD, we can help you specify the right projection screen for your project to get the most out of your system and leave your client with the best end result. We're always talking about our class-leading speaker brands & the technical aspects of our products, but what should you actually consider when specifying the loudspeakers for your next Custom Installation? 👇 👂 Trust your own ear! Choose speaker models that you really enjoy listening to yourself, that you've heard in various rooms with varied content & amplifiers. ⚡ Can you handle the power? Refer to the sensitivity specifications, especially for home cinema installations where you may need power and dynamics at best seats. Run calculations to determine what amplifier power you need and if the speaker can handle it! 📐 Cover all angles... If possible, refer to the dispersion specs for the speaker. These will help you choose good positioning angles to get even coverage across all seating. 🔗 Keep it consistent... Aim for having the same model of speaker all around the room: i.e. not a blend of 2-way and 3-way speakers. If they're the same, you'll achieve a convincing tone and timbre from every direction with more accurate rendering of objects and sounds. 📏 Enough depth? If you don’t have a lot of depth available behind the cinema screen to mount the speaker some distance from the rear surface, then generally, one with a waveguide/horn for the HF will cope better being close to the screen. Today's LED video walls—like the one shown here from Quantum Media Systems—are breathtaking to behold. However, they present a significant challenge regarding speaker placement since speakers can't go behind the screen as they traditionally do in a dedicated theater environment. Our new DIRECTOR represents a revolutionary and patent-pending approach to LED Wall loudspeaker design based on our beliefs that: • Only point source speakers can deliver the desired seat-to-seat performance consistency in multi-seat home theater environments, • Only a direct-radiating system will deliver the highest-performance results • The design should be as invisible as possible to keep the focus on the LED Wall The DIRECTOR's primary in-ceiling system is a two-way, active design with external amplification and DSP. The optional balancing speaker used below the LED wall is very shallow—less than 4 inches deep and only 7 inches wide—and has a powerful, point source coaxial design. #avtweeps #ledvideowalls #leddisplays #videowall #audiovisual #videowalls #interactivedigitaldisplays #leddisplayservice #led #largeformatdisplays #hometheater #homecinema #hometheatre #homecinemadesign #hometheaterdesign #ledvideowall #ascendo

How bright does the lighting for your television studio need to be? That's the question I cover in the December "lighting technologies" column for TV Tech magazine. There's nothing arbitrary in determining the right amount of light for a television studio. This column can help you decide what light level will support the beautiful images you want - based on the needs of the camera gear and video displays you have. Check out the linked article here:

How to Choose a Rental Display Screen? 1.Venue Size and Screen Dimensions: Choose the appropriate screen size and resolution based on the venue size and viewing distance. Larger venues typically require bigger screens with higher resolution. 2.Rental Duration and Cost: The duration of the rental and the specifications of the equipment directly affect the cost. Choose the best configuration according to your event’s budget and needs. 3.Content Requirements: Consider the type of content you need to display (videos, static images, real-time data) and select the appropriate screen type and control system. #led #leddisplay #ledscreen #ledwall #rentalleddisplay #leddisplaymanufacturer #leddisplayfactory #Honorled #Honorleddisplay #Honorledwall #Honorledscreen

Is the floor lava? Or did a bunch of sound waves just walk into a theatre… Using prediction software, we create visual renderings that help our designers design sound systems before the room is even built. This “heat map” indicates sound pressure levels of frequencies between 1kHz and 10kHz throughout the audience area of a performance venue. Every venue is different, and models like this help us to understand and predict how sound will behave in a given space. Our AV designers collaborate closely with owners, architects, speaker manufacturers, and AV integrators when placing speakers so that each audience member has an excellent aural experience and the aesthetic and functional goals of the project are met. Interested in a spectacular dedicated #hometheater? Check this one out! We recently completed this spectacular 11.4.4 surround sound theater; enlarged the existing room to allow additional seating by #FortressSeating, a larger #ScreenInnovations screen, #AudioControl amplifiers pushing #MonitorAudio speakers & #JLAudio subs, playing #Kaleidescape from a #Sony projector, plus other special items (#starlights, #accentlighting, #concessionstand etc.) all controlled from a #RTIControl remote control! This is certainly a lot of tech-jargon but the key to our success is understanding your goals, educating you on what is possible, respecting boundaries, & delivering a room that exceeds expectations. We asked designer #MaisonDeMolly to help us take the customer's vision & make it a reality, let us know how we did! https://lnkd.in/eQC_zZfx
