Is the AJG acquisition of Assured Partners bad for the industry? Some won't like my answer... I started my career at AJG and later opened up my agency with my brother. Several years ago that agency was acquired by Assured Partners and allowed for us to focus more time on building Total CSR. Here are the facts I know from personal experience at both companies. AJG: There were decisions Pat Gallagher made that I absolutely disagreed with. I did not understand the why behind those decisions, but in hindsight (17 years later) his decisions were 100% right and protected and prepared AJG and its people for the downturn of 2008. He was playing chess, and I was playing checkers (or Candyland). The proof is in just how much they have grown over all these years. Assured Partners: They have been fantastic to me and my team. They kept every single promise they made to me and the only disappointment I had was not being able to purchase more of company stock after I had sold my agency. The industry: It's rinse, wash and repeat. This deal is neither good nor bad for the industry. However, it is great for AJG, AP and their respective employees and most importantly clients. The two companies are deeply aligned in many ways and I actually believe this will accelerate the growth of AJG once the synergies take hold. I do have a regret though... I wish it was a stock purchase so that I didn't have to pay the capital gains taxes coming my way only to now go by a bunch more AJG stock 🤣 The only question remaining is whether or not my justin_goodman@ajg.com email address is still available.

"I started working at SB Finance in 2021 as a Branch Sales Officer, right when the company was launching new systems and the zukì app.   It was challenging, but being part of building something from the start, especially tools like MotorsikLOAN and Car4Cash, was incredibly rewarding.   Then, in 2023, I transitioned into a new role as a Remarketing Officer where I now manage the disposal of repossessed units. This opened up a whole new chapter for me at the company.   I've always been the kind of person who loves tackling challenges head-on. Whether it was those early days figuring out the new systems or now in my role managing the warehouse, I've always looked for ways to make each challenge a chance to do something great.   So, the Service Excellence Award I've received for my work here really meant a lot to me. It made all the late nights and hard work feel worthwhile, and I’m proud to see how far the company has come as a leader in digital financing.   The recognition was especially meaningful because of the people who have supported me along the way—from those who were with me from the start, to my current team in Remarketing, who have been instrumental in my journey.   As an SBFF, what I cherish most, though, is the family-like culture within our team. Embrace Change to Unlock Career Opportunities One of the key themes we kept coming back to in last week’s TTIP Global 'Innovate for Success' online networking forum on M&A, was the number of times that our forum members have seen people achieve meteoric career progression during M&A’s and other major organisational changes. People who were previously in the background of a company can really blossom when they embrace major change. In my own career, I’ve seen office staff become general managers, I’ve seen engineering staff become operations directors, all within a few months, when companies were merged, or new company wide initiatives introduced, all because they embraced the change and worked with it. Conversely, I’ve also seen senior people disappear very quickly out of a company because they put their energy into resisting what was happening.
