Last year we lost a dear friend and coworker, Kris Hendrickson. However, we've not lost the legacy she left here at Landau Associates—a legacy of investment in the next generation of environmental professionals and in upholding the highest expectations for quality work. Landau Associates is pleased to honor Kris's legacy by sponsoring the Kristy J. Hendrickson Memorial Scholarship. We invite you to join us in honoring Kris in one of two ways: 1) encouraging young women pursuing a degree in environmental engineering to apply for the Kristy J. Hendrickson Memorial Scholarship, or 2) making personal contributions to the scholarship fund. The application window is open today, December 11, through January 15 for the 2025 scholarship award. Tax deductible contributions to the scholarship fund may be made anytime throughout the year. Links for donations and for applicants may be found on the Landau Associates website scholarship page. https://lnkd.in/g63_Nikz

“We consider it our responsibility to learn more about your organization and the possible alignment of our interests.” This from the funding application process from the ROBERT STERLING CLARK FOUNDATION, INC. Kudos to them for doing the power analysis and realizing they have all of the power while potential grantees have the knowledge, so understanding it is on them to spend more time and energy doing homework than those potential grantees. Courageous Funding Practices named by Crappy Funding Practices (For all of those upset with CFP for calling funders out instead of kindly and gently offering solutions, here’s one explicitly for you. Also, the other call outs also include solutions. Stop doing the crappy thing!)
Swoon! As much of the country suffers through a heat wave, we are woozy with excitement about the ROBERT STERLING CLARK FOUNDATION, INC. 🏆 Do they have character limits? Do they have hidden questions? Do they require too much work for too small a grant? Do they even have an application? They do not. 😮 The fine folks at the Foundation ask only that you submit *any* application you’ve already written, along with existing financial documents. In their words: “Our approach reflects our desire for your organization to keep the focus on your work…. We consider it our responsibility to learn more about your organization and the possible alignment of our interests. This approach is rooted in a philosophy of trust-based philanthropy.” 🥰 🎤 Funders, take note. Over here at CFP, we see this as a great example of valuing your grantees’ time, resources, and sanity! 👍👍 If you’d like to submit your own shout-out for an Awesome Funding Practice, we love to share them! https://lnkd.in/eEmdJm7C

Because relocating for two years is a BURDEN! Especially when you are moving to areas that are more expensive! Administrators safe and secure in their own homes are disconnected from the experience of the housing CRISIS in California. This is why integrating project based section 8 vouchers, for students that qualify, in student housing is so necessary. Make sure your campus family student housing is accepting section 8 vouchers transferred from other counties.Move to work counties please help reduce some of the risk involved with transfer for your most financially disadvantaged students! Education is supposed to disrupt the cycle of poverty, not exacerbate it.
Most California Community Colleges in California are within a 25-mile drive of the nearest The California State University or University of California campus, according to the study by the The RP Group, the independent nonprofit that conducts research for California’s system of 116 community colleges. But among the 29 colleges that are not, a research team led by Darla Cooper and Daisy Segovia found lower rates of transfer from two-year to four-year institutions. Read more: https://bit.ly/4dUDbXu
