PLANNING FOR HOA COMMUNITY EVENTS TO ENCOURAGE HOMEOWNER ENGAGEMENT Living in a homeowners association comes with several perks, one of which is getting to attend HOA community events. Social events are a good way to increase owner participation and instill a sense of community among residents. Many associations, though, don’t know the first thing about planning them. #SocialCommittee #EventMarketing #NeighborhoodEvents #CommunitySpirit #HOAActivities #ResidentInvolvement #HOACommunityEvents

By definition a community is a group of people living in the same place however we believe community is far more than that. Community is a series of relationships, a feeling of belonging and common interests. Building a strong community is not an easy task and ensuring that your community thrives is a goal set by many developers, associations and network groups however not many achieve it. Simply placing a large number of people in the same place at the same time does not create community. How many times have you attended a large event and formed a lasting relationship with someone you have never met? If your aim is to create a thriving community you need to consider the following 4 important elements when planning your community engagement events. #community #events #communityevents

COMMUNITY RELATIONS- WHERE TO HOLD PUBLIC MEETING The idea behind public meetings is either to pass information, recieve information or influence some decisions. In any of these situations, it important to choose where to hold the meeting for maximum impact. Consider accessibility, safety, availability of services like toilets. I just read the article linked below, and it highlights the power of community events in fostering connections, personal growth, and boosting local economies. KUKUI Talks perfectly aligns with these principles by creating a space where stories, music, and conversation come together to build stronger relationships within our community. Just as the article emphasizes the value of gatherings for engagement and knowledge exchange, KUKUITalks provides a platform for meaningful interaction, promoting both individual and collective development through shared experiences. It shows how simple, well-planned events can drive connection and strengthen communities. https://lnkd.in/gn4PAhB2

What types of events do we offer at Vonder? Our committed Community Managers put in every effort to make sure that every aspect of the events is executed to the highest standard, whether it's a party or a talk panel. We usually organise six types of events: 1. Smaller gatherings, such as Friday unwind, movie nights, culture evenings. 2. Larger parties, such as the Spring Party or any themed ones. 3. Fitness and yoga classes. 4. Lectures, for sharing knowledge with others. 5. Competitive events: ping pong tournaments, quizzes, etc., 6. Exchanges: closet exchange, book exchange. We want to make sure our members have an opportunity to relax, exercise, socialise, and enjoy drinks and snacks while dancing or chatting. We make sure to transform the spaces accordingly to provide our members with the best experience possible. Healthy competition on our pub quizzes or ping-pong tournaments is something we love on our events. We work together with other organisations like with the Westminster students in the past or with our tenants who are willing to pass their skills and knowledge on to others! Since we are all about community, our objective is the same regardless of the kind of event: to bring people and community together.

**Why is networking at events not my favorite activity?** A simple internet search on how to expand my network or "how to network" yields the same repetitive information as always. Go to events, meetings, conferences, blah blah blah. And while this might work for many, I don't believe there's much value in the connections made at these places. Think about it: the ones who benefit the most from these events are honestly the organizers. Yes, it's true that there is some pleasure and enjoyment in gathering with like-minded people around a certain topic, but if you're not on stage or at a booth promoting your product or company, I highly doubt the value extracted is real—at least for business. So, what activities are a thousand times more convenient? The simplest things are often the most effective. For example: - The businessperson in the office next door. They may not be related to your market or be a potential customer, but have you considered that they might be 10x closer to the people you need to contact? They might have a relative or acquaintance in the field that could be of interest to you. - Those contacts we all have from some hobby club. Whether you're a member of a music group, running club, or any other leisure activity. - Your church, or whatever you frequently attend during the week. Another thing that comes to mind, which works better than attending all the events in your market throughout the year—and this I learned from someone I met a while ago and greatly admired—is helping as many people as we can. Getting involved in community activities, volunteering at places like your building, the senior community, etc. Providing value to everyone I can makes me feel good, gets me noticed where it really matters, and above all—and most importantly—generates far more valuable and meaningful connections. Prioritize genuinely helping others with your products, services, and true support. You'll see the difference and make yourself known in a better way.

(Re)Introducing Freshwalks business community netwalking events. Though private events season switches to off-peak mode in November after a record-breaking couple of months, our own business community events really ramp up in terms of frequency and popularity. My historical data suggests that Freshwalkers embrace Autumnal hues and Winter landscapes more than the allegedly drier, warmer months. November through March is also a time for reflection and redirection. Indeed, the most popular time of year for our resilient, spirited bunch to get outdoors. If you've not been for ages, break that bad habit and shake off any negative energy. If you've never been before, come step outside with us, you'll find a vibrant community ready to give you the warmest of welcomes in the months ahead. I'll be on most of them myself if you can tolerate this clear downside.

Moving to a new city can be an exciting opportunity to meet new people and explore your surroundings. Here are some fun activities that can help you make friends: 1- Join Local Clubs or Groups: Look for clubs or groups that match your interests, such as book clubs, hiking groups, or sports teams. 2- Attend Community Events: Check out local events such as festivals, farmers markets, or art shows. These events are great for meeting people who live in your area. 3- Take Classes: Enroll in a class that interests you, whether it's cooking, dancing, painting, or fitness. Classes provide a structured environment to meet people with similar interests. 4- Volunteer: Volunteering for local organizations or events is a fantastic way to meet like-minded people and give back to your community. 5- Visit Local Cafés and Hangouts: Spend time at local coffee shops, bars, or parks. Frequenting the same places can help you become a familiar face, making it easier to strike up conversations. 6- Join a Gym or Fitness Group: Whether it's a traditional gym, a yoga studio, or a running club, being active can help you meet others who prioritize health and fitness. 7- Attend Networking Events: Look for professional networking events in your field or related to your interests. These events can help you meet people both professionally and personally. 8- Participate in Social Media Groups: Join local Facebook groups or follow local Instagram accounts that focus on your new city. These platforms often have information about upcoming events and activities. 9- Explore Your Neighborhood: Simply walking around your neighborhood and introducing yourself to neighbors can be a great way to start forming connections. 10- Host a Get-Together: Once you've met a few people, consider hosting a casual get-together or potluck at your place. It’s a great way to deepen friendships and expand your social circle. Remember, building friendships takes time, so be patient and open to new experiences. I spent 5 years working in community events and here's what I learned: -It's never going to go how you planned. It just won't and that's ok. It makes you a great problem solver! -You will wear A LOT of hats. Get ready to gain experience in managing vendors, restructuring a map, communicating to multiple audience types, following H&S plans to help a lost child find their parents, strategising an event plan, handing out flyers and of course posting mail. -There will be many days where you work 12+ hours. It's tiring but it's so fun. You'll gain friends for life. -We couldn't have done it without volunteers!! Honestly, hats off to volunteers. They work big days right alongside us and they're nothing but kind and hardworking! If you are curious what it's like to work in events, go volunteer. Also, it's good for your soul✨ -You are truly making memories for people. This is such a cool one when you really think about it, people come along to an experience you've organised and they get to share it with their friends and family. It's a chance to put your phone down for a bit and build meaningful memories. -Always have a plan B. No explanation needed. -Make time for a chat. Events can be chaotic and a blurr but there are many people who have been working to create this special event for years and years, bring them a cuppa and act like a human with them for a bit. I only have 1 week left at Showing Waikato and it feels strange to think I won't be looking out at this beautiful view soon. Have you worked in events? What's something you learned?
