One thing I swore I’d do differently. Everything. Look one of the perks of starting your own brokerage is getting to change the things that you didn’t always align with. And that was a big one for me. I was unwilling to compromise on my values. And didn’t like how some brokers along the way handled situations. I vowed to be different and do it my own way. Our team structure is different than most. And I love that about it. When I think back on what we are known for, how we shaped the client experience I literally get goosebumps with pride. Ponies, ponies, ponies. My daughter is desperate for me to buy her a pony. She’s an accomplished rider (for her age) and her confidence shot when she had lessons during COVID, so I’m sure she’ll get her wish soon….. 🤦🏼♂️ Now you might think that this lovely picture of me with a pony in the middle of Dartmoor yesterday is completely unrelated to the process of running an accountancy business, but bear with me 😉 💥 Adaptability and approachability - this picture required a calm and approachable demeanor, so does running a business. Being adaptable and approachable to clients’ needs is absolutely crucial 💪🏻 💥 Building trust - just as this pony trusted me enough to get close, an accountant needs to build trust with clients. This involves transparency, reliability, and clear communication 💥 Flexibility and understanding - I likened bending down for this pony to meeting clients where they are - understanding their unique financial situations and challenges from a grassroots level.
