What if the answers to Africa’s challenges are rooted in the wisdom of her own people?
African perspectives, traditions, and knowledge can shape innovative, practical solutions for our most pressing issues. Let’s use a case study of the One Kindred One Business Initiative (OKOBI), an initiative of the Imo State Government of Nigeria.
OKOBI has leveraged the power of communal ties and local knowledge to create sustainable businesses across communities. This initiative has birthed 350 businesses and empowered thousands of individuals across Imo State by encouraging resource sharing and collective entrepreneurship.
In a remarkable achievement, OKOBI recently beat industry giants to win the Best in Innovation Award at The SERAS Africa CSR/Sustainability Awards 2024.
So yes, Africa’s challenges can be effectively addressed by tapping into her people's ingenuity, resilience, and traditions.

Ghana's leadership in the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) is incredibly encouraging! The AfCFTA's ambition to create a single market of 1.7 billion people presents a significant opportunity to boost economic resilience and unlock prosperity across the continent.
This initiative directly supports several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and crucially, SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities).
A stable democratic environment in Ghana, provides a cornerstone for the AfCFTA's success, while further establishing the country as a premium destination for investment and business. This fosters economic opportunities and contributes to regional stability, setting a positive example for the continent. Let's watch with optimism as Ghana leads the way! This is what Grace Owusu, one of TIBA AWARDS 2024 Nominees from Ghana 🇬🇭, has to say about being a person of impact.
Being a person of impact means showing up for your community, using your voice to uplift others, and never underestimating the power of small, consistent actions.
-----------
True impact starts with passion and grows through service.
Being a person of impact means making a meaningful difference in the lives of others and in your community or society as a whole. It involves using your skills, passions, and resources to create positive change, whether through advocacy, service, or innovative solutions to pressing issues.
A person of impact inspires and motivates others, often leading by example and fostering collaboration. They are driven by a sense of purpose, focusing on the needs of others and striving to improve conditions or raise awareness around important issues.
