It's great to see Tony and Edward flying the Lantern flag in the US! Tom, I assume the pace was too much for you this time!? 🏃♂️➡️
We can't wait to hear how Lantern's landing with GPs and Administrators across the pond. Judging by the smiles, it looks like the Big Apple's giving Lantern a warm welcome! 🍎🗽
Putting the world 🌎 to rights at the weekend whilst taking in the beautiful sights of Central Park in the early morning🏃♂️Fantastic week of meetings in NYC 🗽now off to Boston for the same 📆
This summer, I am challenging myself (and I need your help!) 🧗♂️
… to step away from my laptop screen and immerse myself in the vibrant community of Bairro do Talude, Portugal 🇵🇹
Here, among families from Cape Verde, cultural diversity and resilience flourish, shaping a dynamic environment where cultural identity is constantly evolving into "new cultural elaborations."
I believe deeply in the power of spaces to hold memories and stories of the people who inhabit them, which are worth exploring 🔍 . With this project, I would be guiding residents in documenting the sounds, textures, smells, and other artefacts that define their living spaces 🏡 . These elements will be later on digitalized and transformed, providing the community with tools to collectively reinterpret them, bridging the formal and informal aspects of their lives.
🔵 You may wonder, why is this project so significant?
And I will tell you … simply because it is about amplifying the voices of a community and honouring the beauty of their shared cultural heritage on their own “terms and conditions”. By providing community members with the space and the tools to capture and preserve their narratives, we can all celebrate their uniqueness and contribute to a more inclusive cultural narrative.
🤝 How can you help?
To bring this vision to life, Mais Uno+1 has initiated a “Fund an artists” campaign, that would help me cover the necessary resources and tools to create and share their stories - to which you could contribute, following the link:

A Special Day, Now On Zoom?🤔
Special moments like citizenship ceremonies deserve to be cherished, but Zoom can make them feel distant. At Gatherly, we believe these important days should be memorable, not minimized.
Let’s create virtual events that honor life’s milestones with the significance they deserve. 🌟 #VirtualEvents#Gatherly#ReimagineHospitality#SpecialMoments#Citizenship
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of attending the Pride in Place event, organised by Huntingdonshire District Council. I was particularly curious to join because, having promoted local territories in Italy, I wanted to understand how a similar effort is approached here in the UK.
Promoting a territory is no easy task; the challenges are numerous and complex.
The order of the points does not matter; each point is equally important.
The first key element is the ability to bring together different voices and make them sing in harmony, much like a choir (a phrase coined by Michelle Sacks, which fits perfectly).
The second aspect involves attracting tourists who truly want to experience the area, rather than those who just "mordi e fuggi" ("bite and escape" letteral translation - an Italian expression referring to tourists who come, consume, and leave without contributing to the local economy). One solution could be to establish a consistent calendar of events that engage the local community and spark interest among visitors, repeated annually (important) to create a regular rendezvous. When effectively engaged, visitors become active participants, sharing the experience. This is what we achieved with the Amici del Po association over the past ten years, promoting the culture of the Po River through the event “Galleggia, non galleggia” ("Floats, or doesn’t float"), a fun occasion that has attracted groups of friends, families, and corporate teams. In the first year, only 8-10 local teams participated; this year, as in recent years, registrations closed a month early due to the participation of over 100 teams, including some from abroad. The event has brought significant media visibility to the area.
The success of this single event has generated spin-off activities, thanks to the synergy between volunteers, businesses, agriculture, and local artisans. This has broadened the offering and created a network with museums, exhibitions, conferences, and hospitality services.
The third key element is the unique identity of the territory, expressed through its culture, art, and the revival of traditional craftsmanship, all in harmony with nature. The aim is to experience the territory authentically and respectfully, without disturbing the delicate balance of nature.
A provocative idea could be to create a “Palaeolithic Hotel”, offering an immersive and authentic experience using natural reclaimed materials.
In essence, promoting a territory successfully is about more than just good organisation; it’s about creating meaningful connections and shared experiences that leave a lasting impression. Perhaps it’s time to start thinking outside the box, or in this case, outside the modern hotel room.
Who’s ready to book a stay at the “Palaeolithic Hotel”? 😄
English is not my first language, please excuse any mistakes, thank you.

Officially on the 2nd half of the tour- with only 4 stops remaining! Two major learnings from this stop:
This was held at the Detroit Institute of Arts - Detroit's #1 museum. We had our own private room for the session, but our check in table was visible to the public who was exploring the museum. If you've been to a tour stop, you know our check in table is covered in stickers for attendees. Surprisingly, we had a TON of people - random people walking around the museum - come up to the table and take stickers - kids and adults (check the comments below, I'll even add a sneaky photo that I took to prove it)! By the end of the event, there were only 2 out of maybe 150 stickers left on the table (30% attendees and 70% taken by the public). Had I known the power of a WELL DESIGNED (because I do take pride in our amazing designer and tour merch) stickers, I would've had a bonus one created specifically for people not in ERGs - or even one that defines ERGs in a creative way. 💡 The takeaway - make sure your free swag (especially ones that everyone can have) actually peaks interest of people with both the design and message.
Speaking of peaking interest, I had to explain to dozens of people the "obvious" question of What Is An ERG?
A question that's plagued me - rather ironically - because the standard definition is full of buzzwords that mean nothing to the average person. Redefining ERGs had already been something on my radar, so this was the ultimate chance to test out how close I am. Some of my favorite people to explain this to were the kids - "what's an erg?" 🤣 "erg" pronounced as one word.
💬 "It's how you make friends at work!" is what I often landed on - and hopefully planted some seeds of love for the future employees. That answer often intrigued the adults, giving me the opportunity to elaborate more and even get a few new Linkedin followers!
All in all, I feel like more of this work needs to be done. TOO MANY PEOPLE have NO IDEA what ERGs are. Adding this into my MANY To-Do's for the ERG space 🤔 more to come! Excited to a very modest Denver stop this week!
