As Australia is moving quickly to ocean renewables it is important to have honest conversations whilst building relationships with a diversity of stakeholders. Whales have co-existed with so many human activities - some much more harmful than others. The most recent politicisation of the renewable vs conservation debate to migrate across the pacific to our shores has inspired misinformation as much as it has called for honest dialogues around what we do know and where our knowledge gaps lie. This is a wonderful article from where to start this true and honest conversation with our stakeholders #whales #oceanrenewables #communityengagement #buildingrelationships #honestconveesations #bluevsblue
Spooky. I had just finishing reading this article & then saw Michelle’s like on LinkedIn.

6moI'd like to see research / or further research on the potential impacts of the wind turbine anchoring systems (concrete pylons or cabled moorings on floating structures). Given how quickly and how far out Humpbacks motor northwards along Australia's east coast, I'd suspect that a complex array of mooring cables presents a different collision hazard when compared to concrete pylons.
