After World War II, the lessons learned from military convoy efficiency led to one of the most transformative projects in U.S. history: the Interstate Highway System. Signed into law in 1956 by President Eisenhower—a veteran inspired by the challenges of cross-country military transport—this ambitious network of highways revolutionized the trucking industry. For trucking, it was a game-changer. The interconnected highways slashed travel times, improved safety, and made long-haul routes more reliable. Suddenly, goods could move coast to coast faster than ever, fueling economic growth and modernizing supply chains. Trucking companies thrived, and America’s highways became a lifeline for commerce. Today, that legacy lives on every time a trucker rolls down the open road. What’s your favorite stretch of interstate? Share below!

A personal plea to Transport for NSW. What about some consideration for Sydney’s motorists in a maze like road system. As it happens, this weekend involved delivering people to the Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay and a separate drop off at Sydney Airport — a nightmare in each case. The cruise terminal can only be reached via a circuitous route around road closures or road narrowing that even confuses GPS navigation. Getting to the airport just as problematic. We know that the Warringah Freeway revamp is necessary but if a major entry point is to be closed on a Sunday afternoon can we do better than a couple of cursory detour signs that deliver motorists into a wall of traffic on Military Road? Giving motorists a fair go should be the starting point and there’ll be a lot more acceptance of a major infrastructure project designed to make the road system better. Jo Haylen Josh Murray

#TBT It had been proposed and debated for decades. But it was President Dwight D. Eisenhower who finally succeeded in launching the largest engineering and public works project in human history: the $129 billion Interstate Highway System. For decades, America’s highways had been a patchwork of mostly locally funded roads. In 1919, America’s first transcontinental military convoy set out on the Lincoln Highway to test the war-readiness of the country’s infrastructure, and it took a full two months for them to make it from the East Coast to the West Coast. Initiated in the 1950s, the Interstate Highway System revolutionized trucking, making cross-country transport faster and more efficient. #TruckingHistory #SupposeUDrive #InterstateHighways

The biggest aircraft Boneyard in the world The World’s Biggest ‘Boneyard’ Houses Almost 4,000 Aircraft Davis-Monthan United States Air Force Base Size: 10,633 acres (16.5 square miles) An aircraft boneyard or aircraft graveyard is a storage area for aircraft which are retired from service. Most aircraft at boneyards are either kept for storage continuing to receive some maintenance or parts of the aircraft are removed for reuse or resale and the aircraft are scrapped. Boneyard facilities are generally located in deserts such as those in the southwestern United States, since the dry conditions reduce corrosion and the hard ground does not need to be paved. #aviation #boneyards #airforce Credits & Sources:- 1. https://lnkd.in/dCbRJCmf 2. https://lnkd.in/dqb-wQzy) 3. https://lnkd.in/dk3MnEyX 4. https://lnkd.in/dE_ETvzw 5. https://lnkd.in/ds6nFT-g 6. https://lnkd.in/d7AGXFUK 7. https://lnkd.in/dQXnHHrE
