And it has made a difference during this term which has not lacked for challenges 🧗♀️.

💼 As the current – 2019 to 2024 – term wraps up, here's a selection (provided by the European Parliamentary Research Service) of the many achievements of the Parliament over the past five years in seeking to improve the #EuropeanUnion for its citizens.

The European Parliament is made up of 705 Members elected in the 27 Member States of the enlarged European Union. Since 1979 MEPs have been elected by direct universal suffrage for a five-year period. #EU#europeanunion
#Delivery through #Democracy - that is indeed what the EU is all about 💪🇪🇺
And useful to recall the quite astounding process which enables us to co-create ambitious and important results like those achieved in the past mandate:
💡strategic foresight and political agenda setting, by Heads of State and Government in the #EuropeanCouncil and #CitizenEngagement
🔬🧑🧑🧒🧒 impact analyses and public consultations to prepare a proposal that both in in line with the Treaties, knowledge based and with the best interests of the whole of Europe in mind, prepared by the #EuropeanCommission
✅ subsidiarity checks by national parliaments
🧑🧑🧒🧒🧑🧑🧒🧒 opinions by local and regional representatives as well as of social partners and the private sector - and commentary, debate and lobbying from all those who take an active interest
Parallel negotiations by
🇪🇺 directly elected representatives in the European Parliament
🏰 the national governments we have put in place, who continually base their mandates on interaction with the national parliaments they report to
🤝 political agreement on a common solution
📃a final result, enshrined in law
🔂 And now, dear folks, you are again in the driver’s seat, as it is up to companies, cities, regions, individuals, civil society organisations, universities and everyone else concerned, to implement and apply what we have together agreed - and together we’ll enjoy the intended benefits. 🍀📈🫶
And to #useyourvote on 6-9 June, so the politicians representing you there will help steer the cooperation in the way you want it to go the next five years.
