Here is a video, where Alexei Mikhailov and I are discussing the details of the Atlantic crossing, i.e. costs of the crossing, fuel consumption, weather patterns etc... https://lnkd.in/eCzG52Ef

The unnatural wear pattern on the displayed engine parts suggest the crank and the block are damaged. Expensive to verify they are not or replace them. The used Edelbrock intake manifold suggest a potential root cause for the failure. It is an intake meant primarily for drag racing and power, not grocery getting or civilian commuting. The intake slaughters mileage to provide immediate power. Thus, it's likely someone was running this motor too hard for too long and NOT doing sufficient maintenance, which is what caused these wear patterns. Unless this is a numbers matching and very special Olds, it's unlikely to be cost effective to rebuild the motor and cheaper to buy a new rebuilt one which is not numbers matching.

https://lnkd.in/gEpzri2u 52 degrees, clear skies, no breeze, and humidity 83%. Perfect conditions for running. Legs felt better than they have the last few days, but ran slower. Sluggish run. Slow light effort run. 1 ml split 7:34. Felt strong and perceived effort was 1 out of 10.

It's open but Harris is behind. Because of the weird electoral college system, the Democrats have to be about 2-3 percent ahead to win. Trump had fewer votes than Clinton in 2016. The electoral college system is that the candidate that gets the largest number of votes in a state gets all their electoral votes. Until around 2000, this had the effect of magnifying popular vote changes, but since 2000, its given the Republican a lead. The reason for this is that the system favors smaller rural states and also the Democrats tend to get huge majorities in states like California and New York which don't help them. Unless something changes (which could happen), Trump is going to win. Also the absolute worst result is if you have a disputed election. In 2020, it was clear that Biden won, but if you have a situation where there is real doubt as to the winner (i.e. Bush v. Gore) it is going to be a total nightmare. One reason I think we need to move to a multipolar world is that it is not good when the entire planet is held hostage to these sorts of random events of American politics. If France or the UK changes their leaders it's not something that causes the entire planet to hold its breath. The current unipolar world creates a situation where POTUS is basically the leader of the world, and its not a good situation when non-Americans can't vote for the leader of the world.

The largest maintenance costs for San Isabel Electric Association are related to the weather and vegetation. In July, we added innovative software that combines satellite imagery, light detecting and ranging laser systems (LiDAR), and artificial intelligence to monitor vegetation growth around power lines. Read about how this new software could help rate stability, reduce outages, fire risks, and more in our August issue of Colorado Country Life or online at https://lnkd.in/gXv4mg4a

https://lnkd.in/gUF7QS96 66 degrees, cloudy, no breeze, and humidity 96%. Not quite as comfortable as yesterday morning and definitely not fall-like. Decent running conditions. Walked the dog before running. Slow light effort run. 1 ml split 7:09. Felt strong and perceived effort 1 out of 10.
