The double-dealing of the Meloni government. Thank you very much Economic.bg and Antonia Simova for allowing me to be part of the #ALL_IN event 🙏 And thank you very Lilia Mustakova, Denys Strobykin, Elvin Guri, Jesús Caballero Pinto - it was a true pleasure to discuss #transformation and #innovation with you! My personal highlights from our discussion: 💪 Size matters: only an ever deeper integrated 🇪🇺 European Union will be able to compete on a world stage. One important next step for the integration is the #BankingUnion, as proposed by 🇫🇷 and 🇩🇪. 🪖 Defence matters: European Union and NATO member states upgrade their armod forces. There is huge potential for 🇧🇬, when combining the strengths of its defense and IT-sector. 🏭 Business matters: in open letters AmCham Bulgaria, Belgium Bulgaria Luxembourg Business Club, British Bulgarian Business Association (BBBA), Bulgarian-Spanish Chamber of Commerce, Bulgarian-Swiss Chamber of Commerce, Confindustria Bulgaria, #French-Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and our very own AHK Bulgarien (German-Bulgarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce) have called for the respect for principles of market economy and free competition as well as for constructiveness in politics. In the heart of Europe BUDAPEST, HUNGARY – Chairing the Council of the European Union 2024 #HU24EU Can someone explain how come Budapest, with twice the population of Zagreb and a one fifth smaller city area, manages to avoid traffic jams and always has free parking spaces available? Moreover, Budapest hosts over 200 multinational companies, from technology to financial services, making it 45% more developed than Zagreb, yet the rent prices in both cities are the same. Hungary is after 2020 again presiding the Council of the European Union, but without the much public spectacle. They seem to handle it in an good old Austro-Hungarian style, leaving to professionals without much political grandstanding. By choosing the Rubik's Cube as the global recognisable logo for their EU presidency, Hungary promotes innovation, creativity and problem solving. Here are some other interesting facts about Hungarians in 20 seconds: https://lnkd.in/dWQA8WtH

Connectivity is the key word for Hungary One highlight of the Strategic Capital Networking trip to Budapest was the meeting with Bence Bauer, Géza Sebestyén, Peter Drobowiecki and Tamás Fonay at the Mathias Corvinus Collegium - MCC. The MCC focuses on promoting talent in Hungary and the Pannonian Plain. It also works on climate and innovation policy and on German-Hungarian relations. It also has its own German-Hungarian Institute, which is dedicated to bilateral issues and is therefore predestined to bring Hungary closer to the German-speaking world and vice versa. The current Hungarian concept of "connectivity" has become clearer. It refers to a fundamental rejection of new (old) blocs. There should continue to be diplomatic, economic and logistical cooperation with all major players at the global level (e.g. China, India, if possible also Russia). Markets should remain largely open in order to ensure technological progress for Europe as well. The priorities of the Hungarian Presidency are therefore competitiveness, connectivity, enlargement, migration and demography. The basic economic and social policy orientation is based on the motto "workforce instead of welfare". In Austria, the phrase "Vienna is different" is well known. Hungary also claims to be different. But in Europe, being different should not be too much of a problem, as long as it is not at the expense of general solidarity. Green and digital transition will be the focus of the next SCN meetings in Budapest. We stay tuned - Christian Mandl, Philipp Schramel, Orsolya Krammer-Szányi, Karin Jessernigg-Putz, Marlene Lales, Ulrike Hassmann-Vorbach, Barbara Schennach, Micaela Kleedorfer, Heinz Kogler, Iris Marlovits, Claudia Stowasser, Michael Saxl, Christian Krimbacher, Christian H. In a passionate address at the "Selecting Italy" event in Trieste, I emphasized the urgent need for a transformative shift within the European Union. It's time to transition from being mere consumers to becoming formidable producers, championing our own goods and innovation to bolster competitiveness and foster the prosperity of our nations. Today, amidst the backdrop of global economic challenges, I reaffirmed our commitment to overhaul European industrial policy, streamlining processes to welcome and support foreign investment, particularly in technology, innovation, science, and research. This 'fast track' initiative aims to position Italy at the forefront of a new era of economic vitality and sustainable growth within the European landscape. Let's seize this moment to shape a future where our collective strength as producers propels us towards greater prosperity and resilience. #SelectingItaly #EuropeanUnion #IndustrialRevolution #EconomicTransformation

Roberto Musneci: The Italian Chamber of Commerce in Romania (CCIPR) is a reliable partner for the Romanian authorities and society in general, and strives to support a balanced and growing economy, by www.nineoclock.ro Exclusive statement for Nine O’Clock The Italian National day, 2nd June, is traditionally a moment for reflections on the history, culture and social development of our country. It is also one of the main opportunities for politics and politicians to put their political agendas in a broader context, emphasizing their achievements and often playing down those of the opponents, presenting bright futures in case of political victories or creating fears and ghosts in case of defeat. This is even more true in an electoral year such as 2024. The Italian community in Romania, has the privilege, let me say, to celebrate this event from abroad, with a more detached attitude vis a vis day to day debates. We focus more on the historic and still valid meaning of our National day: our unity, our identity, our creativity, our attitude inclusive but practical, and last but not least, allow me to say, our good sense of humour and desire to enjoy life. 20 years of #success: The #enlargement of 2004 brought the #EU ten new members – and Austria a big economic boost. Since the opening of the East in 1989, all enlargement steps combined benefitted #Austria with additional 20 billion euros in economic growth and more than 130,000 new jobs. Exports to the new member states tripled to 37.9 billion euros and foreign investments in Austria increased fivefold to 6.6 billion euros. These figures are a testament to the power of the single market. Proof that its success story must be continued! Perspective is key: We must secure gradual integration into the single market for the Western Balkans during the accession process as a reward for reforms and improvements. Otherwise, we may lose them as partners … and others are waiting to take our place! The Western Balkans are our neighbors and essential partners – for Europe, which is struggling to regain its competitive edge and for Austria, which has deep economic bonds in the whole region. 20 years later. Is Europe still united? Twenty years ago, the European Union experienced its largest enlargement ever, the so-called Big Bang, with the addition of 10 new member states. This enlargement included many of the countries in our region – Poland, Hungary, Czechia, Slovakia, Slovenia and the three Baltic states of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. The latest issue of New Eastern Europe takes a look at what was achieved and what challenges remain. https://lnkd.in/dG48aD4h New Eastern Europe
