Why 'Prakriti' and 'Karma'? It starts with the story that laid the foundation of our care for stray animals 15 years ago! Back in the day, we (The Sinha family) brought home a rabbit and named her Tuktuk. We were absolutely in love with her. Months flew by. One day, when the door was mistakenly left open, three stray dogs entered our home, chasing and scaring Tuktuk. She didn’t survive the trauma, the incident left us shattered. Pain, shock, and trauma built up. We were distraught with the dogs. But soon we realized that everything, EVERYTHING, happens for a reason. Before Tuktuk, we had never paid such close attention to stray dogs. With time, we understood that 𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐬 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬—𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 (𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐤𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢) 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦. It’s not their fault. 𝐁𝐮𝐭, 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐰𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐮𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 (𝐊𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐚). This understanding has formed the underpinning of the name of the NGO. The close relation in which 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 (𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐤𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢) and the 𝐟𝐫𝐮𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬/ 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 (𝐊𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐚) work together, perfectly sums up the essence of life. Flora, fauna, natural resources, geographies, etc are part of nature, and the ways we interact with them lead to our fate. For example- Destroy flora, bear rising temperatures. Destroy wildlife, bear extinction. These are just a few specific cases, but they help us understand the sentiment. Hence, the name guides us on ℎ𝑜𝑤 𝑙𝑖𝑓𝑒 works and implies 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐰𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤, that is 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑝𝑎𝑠𝑠𝑖𝑜𝑛! 🔗 More about us: https://lnkd.in/d8AuF-pP 🔗 What we do: https://lnkd.in/dv6CewpH Next Up: 'Who are the people of Prakriti And Karma Foundation?' #NGO #NonProfit #SocialImpact #Community #JoinUs #Pakf

Giving Tuesday: https://lnkd.in/gAJMxsrH Labrador Friends of the South, Inc., (LFS) is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the rescue and adoption of homeless Labrador Retrievers in the Southeast region of the United States. LFS relies solely on donations, fundraising events, and adoption fees to continue saving and placing homeless Labradors. LFS is an all-volunteer organization that gives its time and effort out of a love for Labs. Our goal is to protect and save Labs from the perils of pet overpopulation and irresponsible pet ownership. Our ultimate goal is to help these dogs find new, loving, forever homes. The Labradors in our program receive veterinary care and temperament testing before being eligible for adoption. Since our goal is to place our Labradors in forever homes, we consider each Labrador’s history (if known), temperament, training, other skills, and energy level. We then assess each adopting family’s preferences, home environment, lifestyle, and personality to make the best possible match for successful adoption. Labrador Retrievers and Labrador Retriever mixes are the most popular family pets in the country. Unfortunately, this statistic means they are the most likely breed to end up in animal shelters as strays or unwanted pets. Perfectly healthy, sweet-tempered Labs are put to sleep every day, sometimes without the benefit of a painless euthanasia drug, simply because there are not enough good homes for them. We believe there is a misconception these Labs and Lab mixes have behavioral problems or extensive health issues that caused their owners’ rejection. The truth is most of these dogs suddenly find themselves abandoned by their owners and the only family and home they have ever known. This often happens because their owners lacked compassion or education about being good, responsible pet owners. Sometimes these homeless pets are victims of unfortunate circumstances or tragic events that caused them to become separated from loving families. Please open your heart and your home to a Lab that needs your help. They will show you their appreciation with lots of tail wags, body wiggles, and kisses. No matter the circumstances of their pasts, these homeless Labs are likely to bond thoroughly and deeply with their new families and make wonderfully affectionate and loyal companions for the rest of their lives.

"Until he extends the circle of his compassion to all living things, man will not himself find peace." - Albert Schweitzer Imagine a peaceful day interrupted by the frantic quacking of a mother duck. A compassionate policeman notices her distress and discovers her ducklings trapped in a manhole. With care and empathy, he rescues them. 1. Universal Compassion: True compassion knows no limits. It extends to all living beings, regardless of their differences. The policeman’s act of rescuing the ducklings shows that every life is valuable and deserving of care. In Kenya, the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust rescues and rehabilitates orphaned elephants, demonstrating profound compassion for wildlife. Their efforts not only save lives but also foster a deeper connection between humans and nature. 3. Impact of Small Acts of Kindness: Even the smallest acts of kindness can have a significant impact. The policeman’s simple act of rescuing the ducklings brought relief to the mother duck and ensured the safety of her chicks. In your community, you might have seen neighbors coming together to help each other during difficult times, such as organizing food drives or assisting the elderly with daily tasks. These small gestures strengthen community bonds and spread positivity. 3. Finding Peace Through Service: Serving others, including animals, brings a sense of fulfillment and peace. The policeman’s actions not only helped the ducks but also likely brought him a sense of satisfaction and peace. Many people find joy and purpose in volunteering at animal shelters or participating in environmental clean-up projects. These activities not only benefit the community but also provide a sense of inner peace and accomplishment. This heartwarming story and the profound quote remind us that compassion is a universal language that transcends all boundaries. By extending kindness to all living beings, we not only make the world a better place but also find peace within ourselves. Whether it’s rescuing ducklings or helping a neighbor, every act of compassion counts. If you like this, kindly FOLLOW me or CONNECT with me. Thank you. #Kindness #Compassion #Selflessness

This photo is from a clinic in Mexico (2017) that was 6 or 7 days with 12-14 hour days (followed by laundry duty). And it was a rush! I headed the 2nd recovery unit as this is where the dogs "wake up" after surgery, (due to potential behavioral concerns when they wake). This followed the 1st recovery where they received a manicure and pedicure and new hair-do's (the "Spaw"). We had well over a thousand dogs go through, as well as hundreds of cats. Huge success! These offer a great opportunity to meet new people, get involved in the community, learn about the culture, work closely with animals, brush up on your Spanish (or language of the region), and be a part of a team. There is something for everyone and everyone is (or should be) appreciated. From drivers, to caterers, to those who carry the animals from one section to the other, pre-set up and post take-down, photographers, admins and organizers, those who work hands-on, and of course the vets and assistants. I met people who were there on their honeymoon and people from all over the world, and many are involved in rescue that I still keep in touch with today. And, of course, a few of the dogs made their way back to Canada ;-) I am certainly not an expert in these events, nor do I "work under one umbrella with one group". I constantly challenge myself by involving myself in different groups and events and orgs. No two clinics are the same, and there are many options. Having said that, there are groups you can join which means you see many of the same people at different events. Volunteering is a great way to broaden yourself, in addition to being a part of the solution (whoot whoot)! What is your favorite volunteering experience? Or have I peaked your interest? Want to Make Life Easier? Here’s How Giving Back Can Transform Your Own Life Too India’s street dogs are battling unimaginable struggles daily. Through the Karma Dog Project, we're reducing the stray dog population and bringing hope to these innocent animals. But here’s the beauty: when we give, we don't just help others—we help ourselves. Science-backed studies show that giving—whether through donations, volunteering, or acts of kindness—boosts our own happiness and well-being. It reduces stress, increases feelings of fulfillment, and can even improve our physical health. I’ve personally found that giving to others, especially when life feels heavy, has a way of dissolving our own burdens. It’s like a ripple effect—when we step outside ourselves to serve, the difficulties we face begin to lighten. In helping others, we often find the solutions to our own struggles. Doing good for others selflessly actually dissolves our own negative actions. This is your chance to be part of something bigger than yourself while creating positive change for those who need it most as well as yourself. Take Action: Join us in making a difference for India’s street dogs. Your contribution, no matter the size, provides essential care, food, and humane birth control to animals who desperately need our help. At the heart of this transformation is grassroots leadership.
BASWARI TRIPURA For three weeks, she worked tirelessly on the shed, dedicating four full days to ensure it was ready—her hopes pinned on the livelihood grant she'd chosen: piggery. On November 22, 2024, she finally brought home two piglets, one male and one female. As she fed them for the first time, her excitement was palpable. A single mother of four, she was not just raising livestock; she was building a legacy. For her, these piglets symbolized more than a livelihood—they were a bridge to a life of dignity and opportunity for her children. And she was ready to give it her all.
