Celebrating my 2-year Anniversary as a Business Owner To say that time flies is an understatement. September marks two years for me as a small business owner. I am deeply grateful for all of those who continue to help me on this journey, and the many clients who have trusted me to serve their needs. I am joyfully celebrating the career I designed that plays to my strengths and honors my values. Here are some of the valuable lessons I learned along the way… 1.    Don’t take yourself too seriously – embrace humility. 2.    When you have a bad day, lift someone else up. 3.    Be an advocate for others. 4.    Be willing to ask for help and offer to help others. 5.    Your best laid plans will change – be ready to pivot and be resilient. 6.    Your value is not measured by the hours worked but the impact you make. 7.    Play is a connection to creativity. 8.    Rest is an investment in your wellbeing. 9.    Prioritize time to think, reflect, and dream – this unlocks energy, focus and productivity. 10. Take good care of your body – your life depends on it. Onwards to another year of personal and professional growth and a commitment to wellbeing, wisdom, and wonder!

🌟 Grateful for the Journey 🌟 Today marks the last day of my journey with my current employer. As I reflect on my time here, one quote stands out: "8 hours in the right organization feels like 8 minutes." I was fortunate to experience what a truly supportive work environment feels like. My manager has been incredible, and my team? Just WOW! 💫 One moment that stands out is when I fell sick but still came to work. When asked why I didn’t rest at home, I explained: "I’m not used to staying home when sick unless I’m completely incapacitated. It’s the experience I carry from where I’ve been." I shared an analogy with my manager: "It’s like coming from an abusive relationship and then finding love and care in a new one—it feels too good to be true, and it takes time to accept that love." Her response? "You are now loved, and you need to embrace it." 💙 This experience taught me the importance of creating a workplace culture where employees feel genuinely valued and cared for. To all employers: 💡 Treat your employees with respect and compassion. 💡 Encourage them to take the time they need to heal. 💡 A healthy, supported employee will always come back stronger and more productive. To my soon-to-be former employer, manager, and team—thank you for showing me what a healthy, positive work environment looks like. I’ll carry these lessons with me forever. 🙏 Here’s to new beginnings and taking these cherished memories forward! 🚀

“Defining moments shape our lives, but we don't have to wait for them to happen, we can be the author’s of them.” The Power of Moments I was knee deep in a meeting yesterday and received a call from my daughter. Like every dad, I walked out to take the call, making sure all was well. It was a celebration call from a soon-to-be college graduate about her first job opportunity. What a defining moment opportunity. Sure, birthdays, holidays, anniversaries are great moments to be celebrated. But, what if you turn those “everyday” moments into something special (which they are). The milestone achieved by your spouse. The big win by a teammate. The step of faith of a child. Creating a defining moment can become difference makers for a member of your family, a coworker, a client. Defining moments can become the memory of a lifetime. Perhaps the most incredible outcome of creating a defining moment is the tendency for the receiver to pay it forward. Defining moments create cultures. You can create from here.

The Difference Of A Year 11:50 pm on New Year's Eve was quite a stressful time for me most years. My former direct report and dear friend Travis Fox and I would be waiting by our phones for very last-minute approvals of our biggest annual contracts to get routed through myriad approval chains to the tippy top of the company. We needed to be more than ready for any very last-minute "what is this for?" questions that would be very understandable at a gigantic company being fiscally responsible. It was never anyone's fault that it would come down to the wire like that, and we started to expect it almost like a bad running joke. Flash forward 365 days from the last time I did that, and as part of my new job, I'm sitting in the scoreboard at Wrigley Field as an honorary double emergency backup goalie for the Chicago Blackhawks. Never in my wildest dreams... No matter what your goals, resolutions, and hopes for 2025 may be, please never give up on yourself and what is possible beyond whatever your wildest dreams regarding your career may be. If nothing else, I want to be living proof that if you grind your ass off on your own terms over long periods of time, the craziest things could happen. Because of that, I am incredibly excited to be a helpful part of your career growth and pursuit of happiness in 2025 as I continue to pay forward everything that I experienced and learned during my tenure in corporate America. Here is his answer😊 I can summarize it in 3 reasons - ordered by priority - 1. the team, 2. non-monotonous work, 3. option to choose my own path. The team makes you feel at work like on a friend event. Of course there are ups and downs, but even in downs team was there to help to get out of the ... it.  [😉]  The work was always interesting, sometimes more challenging, sometimes more annoying and of course sometimes a little monotonous as at any other work. What also helped a lot that most of my team leads have aIways acted as one of us.
