🎥 Breaking News! 🎬 Exciting progress in ensuring equal access to entertainment for all! Hawaii and Maryland have taken the lead by passing bills requiring open closed-captioning in movie theaters. This is a significant step towards making cinema accessible to everyone, regardless of hearing ability. Now, it's time for all 50 states to follow suit! I urge you to join the movement and spread the word. Contact your senators and delegates to advocate for similar legislation in your state. Together, we can make inclusive movie experiences a reality nationwide. Let's ensure that no one is left out of the magic of the movies! 🌟 #AccessibilityMatters #InclusiveEntertainment #EqualAccess #GovWesMoore

I'm a big fan of the theatrical experience. I want a big screen, crisp picture, rock-your-seat sound. But, I had such a bad experience at a cinema seeing "Deadpool & Wolverine" that I had to share. Showtime was 6:30 pm. At 6:30 pm more than a dozen TV commercials were played followed by NINE movie trailers. The film did not start until close to 7:10 pm. The film watching experience itself was great, but the pre-show experience was so poor that audience members were groaning loudly and several left the theater to complain to management. It's not enough for a movie theater to have quality projectors and speakers or comfy chairs. Ticket prices are higher than ever before and with so many at-home entertainment options, cinemas can't afford to alienate consumers who have actively decided to leave their couches. What was your recent theatrical experience like? Which theaters do you think are doing it right?

Two REMINDERS following Labor Day: first, this is the final week of radio commercials for my NEW AUDIO version of "The Shocking Disconnect" on Sirius XM Channel 131 Family Talk. Better than tuning in to hear the radio spot, go to Amazon Books, Audible, or i-Tunes to order YOUR copy! Second, if you haven't yet gone to see the new feature-length film, "Reagan", I'd urge you to do so. It's an inspiring "must see" during this present chaotic period in America. PsuedoCinema, Explainer Cinema, Derivative Culture, Metaphor-less Cinema and Mid TV… these five terms or “genres” that were written about this year indicate our entertainment industry is sliding downwards and the canaries see it. I have links to them in my post today, but wondering have you spotted equal and opposite reactions too? Those I still need (as do all of us). Please share if you found any! https://lnkd.in/gtuEuxTH

How can movie theatres attract more viewers? #LIPostingChallenge #LinkedInNewsIndia To attract more viewers, movie theaters can: Enhance the Experience: Improve food quality, seating comfort, and overall ambiance. Engage Younger Audiences: Connect with youth through arts education programs and integrate student performers into shows. Community Building: Host post-show talkbacks and events to foster dialogue and friendships. Diversify Content: Offer independent films, foreign cinema, and niche genres to cater to varied tastes

My latest story looks at a property sector that's niche but has a lot of nostalgia: movie theaters. Cinemas have been through the wringer in recent years between the pandemic, labor strikes and rise of streaming services. But many are still holding on, in part because their uniquely designed real estate makes them difficult to replace. Those big, windowless rooms with stadium seating are great for watching Dune: Part Two, but not so easy for the landlord to turn into a Panera Bread or Ulta Beauty. So, in many cases, the landlord agrees to cut the rent and the movie theater survives. Do you still go to the movies? What's the first and last movies you saw in theaters? (Mine: 101 Dalmatians in 1991 and Barbie last summer.) The Wall Street Journal https://lnkd.in/e6-QkXAm

Movie theaters big and small need to invest in picture and sound. Especially, when it comes to branded theaters that are designated as “premium experiences.” Went to a local theater tonight while visiting family and I’m shocked at the poor quality of the PLF screen. (I will not name the chain.) The theater had lighting underneath the screen that illuminated the bottom corners of the picture and made those areas difficult to view. Additionally, the whole screen had a hazy/cloudy sheen to it. So much so that someone I was sitting with asked if the film was meant to look like that. (Having seen the film before, I know it was not.) I know that the theatrical industry has been hit hard by the pandemic and then the dual Hollywood strikes. I know that product has been limited and only recently coming out at a pre-pandemic pace. However, theaters need to have systems in place so that moviegoers can have a true theatrical experience. It’s hard enough to convince people to leave their couches to come out to see movies, it’s even harder when the experience is lackluster and reinforces why they usually stay home. 2025 and 2026 have major blockbuster films on the slate that demand a big screen experience. If the industry has a hope of getting back to $10 billion in domestic ticket sales, then a trip to the movies needs to be better than a trip to the couch.

How Going to the Movies Is Changing, in Charts Hollywood’s new normal involves fewer wide releases, more big screens and novelty popcorn The stakes for the industry are particularly high during the summer season, which typically makes up some 40% of domestic ticket sales in a given year. There have been fewer wide releases—movies opening or eventually playing in 2,000 or more theaters—out this year. Just 54 wide-release films have been released so far in 2024, which is about 80% of the average number by this point in prepandemic years. When customers do go to movies, they increasingly prefer “premium large format” and IMAX screens, both of which now account for a larger share of box-office sales than they did before the pandemic.
