🕯 🎻 In light of the recent articles about the Candlelight Concerts....the perceived threat to orchestras...I wanted to share this article from a few years back: 📒 "Many poo-poo these experiences, criticizing the watered-down artistic impact or cheapened commercial appeal. Yet, having gone to and enjoyed one of these immersive experiences myself, I think we need to re-evaluate a few things before we continue to criticize. First, these immersive experiences open a gateway into an art form that for decades and centuries the general population hasn’t necessarily felt welcomed or had easy access to. Experiences create an interest which leads to curiosity and, if played correctly, leads to furthering that interest into a passion. Second, traditional arts organizations should acknowledge the trend and the impact of this competition. Additionally, they should allow this to invigorate them, not threaten them. It forces a re-evaluation of how a performance effects and impacts the public. The scary side of this could be that traditional organizations may not have the funds or resources to up their own game. But that shouldn’t stop them from finding creative solutions. It all boils down to how the experience of a performance feels to the ticket buyer. An organization will be on track if buyers feel: 👉 Invited 👉 Welcomed 👉 Involved and included 👉 Valued Organizations who turn their noses up at immersive experiences make me think there is either an air of snobbery or a defensive reaction. Neither perspective is about the potential patrons, but about cloistered individuals. There have been a few good examples of orchestras exploring the immersive experiences. The Curtis Institute offered an Immersive Scheherazade this year. But the best example of immersive experience given by an orchestra was the live performance by Aurora Orchestra who performed Berlioz’s Symphony Fantastic in Royal Albert Hall. I highly recommend checking this performance and noticing the details that make this production work: 🌟 Lighting and focus 🌟 Staging 🌟 Pacing and flow 🌟 Story telling 🌟 Commitment from all the performers READ MORE: #Immersive #candlelight #concert #experience #tickets #audienceengagement #value #trend #orchestra #listening #arts #family #price #activity #welcome

Reflecting on the journey from a demo in my studio during ESNS to the grand showcase at SXSW, it's clear that the paths we embark on are often as unexpected as they are transformative. Little did we know that our collaboration would lead to a creation highlighted in Charlie Fink’s insightful article in Forbes. The Sphere of Sound has always been more than just a company to me; it's a vessel for exploration and innovation in the realm of sound and immersive experiences. Our collaboration with Ristband at the Future x Music Event and the unveiling of our A/V Installation "Programming Harmony," in partnership with Venice Bleach, Alexander Parsons, and Timothy Han, have not only been a testament to our collective vision but also a beacon of what the future holds for immersive artistry. This recognition is not just a personal achievement but a milestone for all who believe in pushing the boundaries of music, technology, and visual art to create experiences that resonate deeply and universally. As we share this journey with you, I'm reminded that our pursuit of immersive experiences is just beginning. What started in the confines of my studio has now reached a global stage, igniting conversations about the endless possibilities that lie at the intersection of art and technology. What's next? Only we know 😉, but one thing is certain: it's immersive, innovative, and pushes us to explore new horizons, We're ready for it. So, make sure to follow Ristband's YouTube channel to see what's coming next... You’ll be hearing more news coming out of Las Vegas soon. Why? Stay tuned. More to come. Some big new projects are on the horizon 😀 Part 1.) Las Vegas’ Sphere: Proof that Immersive Experiences Are the Future As a firm believer in immersive experiences, reading Livia Caligor’s take on the Las Vegas Sphere Entertainment Co. only reinforced what I already knew: fully immersive environments are the future of live entertainment. The Sphere doesn’t just offer a concert; it delivers an experience. With the help of spatial sound engineers of HOLOPLOT According to the Cone of Learning, we remember only 10% of what we read, 20% of what we hear, but up to 80% of what we experience. That’s exactly what Sphere is tapping into with its cutting-edge tech—turning performances from acts like U2 and Dead & Company into unforgettable experiences that stay with you long after. The power of immersive design goes beyond entertainment—it’s about creating moments that last. What are other great examples of immersive experiences where art, food, or music are involved? Please share in the comments yours.

It will be an incredible and fantastic experience! The entertainment music industry is moving forward with leaps and bounds in the implementation of immersive audiovisual effects. 8K resolution is penetrating our daily lives much faster than we think and such events in the music industry will only accelerate the adoption of 8K in the film and television industry. At #Prasad and #DFT, we have long been promoting the philosophy of scanning film footage in #8K, both for purely conservation purposes, but also for further restoration in 8K and in #super4K resolution. The time is not far off when dailies for new films will also be scanned in 8K. While European countries are lagging far behind in this, in India we have been scanning in 8K for a long time. I believe that 8K will allow us to reach a new level of film production, especially in those projects where there is integration with special effects of content shot on film, and where it is important not to lose information during the post-production process. At Prasad we also provide #VFX and media content creation services for immersive experiences. This is by far the biggest project we have ever worked on, and we couldn’t be prouder launching today the world’s first large-scale 360 immersive nomad concert installation of its kind: Cercle Odyssey. A complete immersion in a 360° panorama of music and emotion, not just a concert, a transformative experience. Our signature visuals reflect humanity and nature, a connection we often crave in today's fast-paced world. Each concert is completely unique and unfolds like a living painting, with videos projected onto the walls and ceiling, all synchronized live with the music. The experience will travel from city to city, and we’ll work with some of our favorite artists around the globe. The artists will perform at the center of the scenography, serving as a bridge between the venue and the surrounding world, like a panoramic window onto our planet… The full lineup will be revealed later this year. Each show will be completely unique and we aim to explore the deep connection between live music, captivating visuals, and the powerful emotions they evoke.. Our signature visuals will reflect humanity and nature, a connection we often crave in today’s fast-paced world. Cercle Odyssey blends innovation with sustainable design: 2300 m² of 8K projection screens and 72 speakers around the 50-meter-long and 10-meter-high structure. All equipment (sound, light, and projectors) is sourced and rented locally. By using projectors instead of LED screens, we create a stunning visual impact while reducing our carbon footprint, eliminating the energy costs associated with transporting large LED screens from city to city… First dates and locations will be announced very soon. What is the potential of mobile augmented reality (AR) for pop venues? That is the question we have been working on with Thunderboom Records in our Next Stage AR project for the past months. Together with awesome partners such as Superposition, Vereniging Nederlandse Poppodia en -Festivals (VNPF), Nederlands Instituut voor Beeld en Geluid, Femke Blok, Femke Vandenberg and Frank Kimenai we develop an AR creator tool for pop venues. We test the tool in a series of live events together with Paradiso, Melkweg and Het Amsterdamse Bostheater to investigate what they can potentially do with AR to service live performances, virtual decorations, marketing or wayfinding. The goal of this project is to: 👉 create AR tools that are easy to use and low-key 👉 create AR tools that don't collect unnessecary data 👉 create responsible alternatives for big-tech solutions 👉 create AR tools that are transparant and open-source 👉 create valuable workflows and use cases for pop venues Check out the aftermovie by Sjors Schoppen of our first live event together with Paradiso. Visuals are created by the artists in collaboration with Timothy Adèr. This project is made possible with support from Cultuurloket DigitALL

Intimate Space; Binaural Panoramas | Sounding Future From personal walks and conversations to theatrical settings, binaural audio enriches our intimate experiences. Tools like binaural panoramas assist us in creating immersive narratives that transcend both physical and abstract spaces. As part of my work routine, I frequently remaster my 3D sound spatialization projects into binaural format, saving a version for digital distribution. Additionally, a significant portion of my work intentionally adopts the binaural format, often utilizing binaural panning plugins instead of relying exclusively on binaural recordings. The challenge of creating spatial elements in immersive sound narratives, especially with binaural audio, underscores the importance of understanding how spatial elements play a fundamental role in shaping the perception of time and space. This transformation enhances the immersive sonic narrative during the auditory experience. In this context, tools such as binaural panning play a crucial role in achieving seamless integration between the various tangible and intangible spaces within which binaural immersive narratives unfold.
