Hi Everyone, When producing a low-budget film, strategic spending is crucial for success. One effective strategy is to utilize locations that are readily accessible, reducing the need for expensive sets and location scouting. Additionally, crafting scenes with a small cast can significantly lower production costs, as fewer actors mean less expenditure on talent fees and accommodations. Another cost-saving tactic is to creatively use accessories to enhance characters and add depth to the story. For instance, incorporating symbolic elements like non-prescription glasses can serve dual purposes by making actors stand out visually while also conveying character development. Such subtle yet impactful details not only save money but also contribute to the overall quality and authenticity of the film, ensuring a compelling narrative that resonates with audiences. #tipsforbeginners #filmmakers #advice #screenwriters

Five Things EVERY New Filmmaker Needs to Know - Know your script: Before you embark on the journey of bringing your idea to life, you must know your script. Specifically, you need to know it well enough so you can change things in the moment, and understand how that affects your story down the line. - More Time = Less Stress: You must give yourself ample time when it comes to pre/intra/post production. The more time you give yourself, the more creatively you’ll be able to think. - Know Your Location: You must know your location and make sure that it is workable for your crew. That you have enough space to achieve what you want. - Things Will Go Wrong: Things are going to go wrong during production. Things are going to break, things will get misplaced, it’s just a fact. You need to set aside money for losses and damages to save yourself trouble. - Someone On the Business Side: You need to have someone in the corner who understands the business and logistics of production. This usually comes in the form of a producer. To learn more watch the video on my YouTube! https://lnkd.in/gFSGEwTx

We started with a killer script.. that was, unfortunately, a 30-minute movie! 😅 Cue the frantic editing! 👀 Cutting a 30 minute production down into 6 minutes will really test your storytelling skills. Despite the hiccups, I’m happy with the final product, although there are some things I’d do differently next time. Here’s a breakdown of the competition: You get 48 hours to write, film, & edit a 6 minute short film that will compete among other shorts. Our extended movie: https://lnkd.in/gpE7Zi-A These are the things I’d do differently: 1.) Our script was 13 pages with 15 scenes- I would limit my script page number between 4-6 pages for my screenwriter. 2.) Rather than doing a single take and having room for dampened audio. I would take multiple angles of each shot with the actors saying the crucial lines that pertain to the story development. 3.) I would use a boom mic and have an audio mixer on set. 4.) most of our scenes were shot during the day- which made our night scene look drastically different. I would have a designated lighting tech in charge of keeping each scene lit properly and charging the necessary gear. Any additional feedback is much appreciated! Lastly I’d like to give a huge shoutout to our incredible cast and crew! Their skills were on full display as we poured our hearts and souls into this film (literally, there might be a little blood, sweat, and tears in there somewhere). 😉 Here’s to many more late nights, strong coffee, and cinematic masterpieces! 🥂 Like, share, and comment if you enjoy the movie! #thepretender #horrormovies #shortfilm #idaho #horrorfilm #horror #filmmaking #h48 #h482024 #femalefilmmakers #streammedia #caldwell #boise #idaho #idahofilm #movie #idahome #videoproduction #videoediting #cinematographyandfilm #dronevideograpghy #womeninbusiness

Participating in the 2024 Little Rock 48 Hour Film Project was a blast! Have you been a part of one? Comment below. 👇👇👇👇 Here are three lessons I learned: ➡️Pre-production: Any time or money spent on proper planning is well worth the spend. Structured ideas lead to successful execution. ➡️Production: Clear roles on set streamlines interactions and keeps everyone focused. We all have our role to play — knowing who’s playing what role is invaluable. ➡️Post-Production: Having a DIT on set is a valuable asset when turnarounds are tight — passing off organized footage empowers your editor to shine. What lessons did you learn from your 48 Hour Film Project experience? Share below. #48hourfilmproject #videoeditor #videoproduction #award
