IT leaders. You're getting lied to by your MSP when you buy circuits from them. Did you know ISPs are encouraged by resellers and master agents to SPIF their products? They basically say "bribe me and I'll push your product" They're supposed to be objective. Supposed to be partners. They're supposed to be objective. A good alternative to dealing with pushy dishonest vendors. Turns out they're not any different. And where do you think they learned it from? Most ISPs and master agents were employed by the Spectrums and Comcasts of the world before. They've never had a problem with reselling type 2 circuits from the same vendor you're buying type 1 circuits from when you SPECIFICALLY ASKED for diversity. They're not supposed to lie to you in order to send you to the top of the list. Telecom buying is broken. That's why we started Lightyear. There should honestly be some kind of law against this. When a SPIF'd product is sold, it should be disclosed. How long are we going to let them get away with this? Big telecom - your days are numbered. #telecom #networkengineering #IT

Separate deals involving the sale of parts of U.S. Cellular are sparking investors’ interest. T-Mobile US is close to an agreement to buy some of the regional wireless carrier’s operations and valuable wireless spectrum licenses for more than $2 billion, citing anonymous sources. That transaction could be announced later this month, while Verizon’s deal might require more time — if it happens at all. The deals are being pursued independently in a bid to ease antitrust concerns. Verizon and T-Mobile are the largest and second-largest U.S. cellphone companies by subscribers, respectively. Shares of U.S. Cellular and Telephone and Data Systems, which holds nearly 75% of U.S. Cellular’s publicly traded shares, both soared on Thursday. The company provides wireless service to more than four million customers across 21 states from Oregon to North Carolina. https://lnkd.in/gc3k2sWH

U.S. Cellular said it would sell $1 billion worth of its spectrum licenses to Verizon. The deal includes the sale of 663 million megahertz point-of-presences of its cellular spectrum licenses. A point-of-presence refers to a physical location which connects users to the internet. This comes after T-Mobile agreed in May 2024 to buy much of U.S. Cellular's operations, including wireless customers and stores, as well as certain specified spectrum assets for $4.4 billion. This latest transaction highlights the gradual dismantlement of U.S. Cellular – a regional wireless network operator with around 4.5 million customers – among the nation's big wireless network operators. https://lnkd.in/eASce3rX

I should add that part of the reason the magnitude of decline is so high for Service Provider Router in 2Q 2024 is because in the year ago quarter (2Q 2023), #Router revenue hit a record high. So, definitely some extra inventory is getting burned off these past few quarters.
Press Release - Spending on service provider (SP) routers pulled back sharply in 2Q 2024. SP Router Market revenue declined 33% Y/Y in the quarter, according to the newly published 2Q24 report: https://lnkd.in/gAr7TZ2U #Router #telecom
