The changes announced in the recent budget have caused deep concern in social care as a whole and here at LDC Care. The impact this will have on an already struggling sector cannot be ignored. In an attempt to make this clear to the government we along with a number of other providers have sent the letter below to Members of Parliament today seeking their support. #autumbudget #AdultSocialCare #providerservices #providersupport #membersofparliament

✂️ According to Ellie Ames in TheMJ, the Local Government Association (LGA) has revealed that to balance their 2024-25 budgets, 85% of local authorities anticipate having to implement cuts. Among those councils, three-quarters have indicated that to manage costs, reductions will be necessary for their budget for adult social care. 🗣️ LGA chair Shaun Davies said: “Extra Government funding will help councils this year, but acute funding pressures remain and are forcing many councils to make stark choices about what popular services to cut.” 📊 Given the problems in funding local authorities, avoiding a position whereby councils are forced into significant reductions in social care expenditure is essential for safeguarding care provision. The upcoming Budget on March 6 allows the government to alleviate some of the burdens being faced by councils across the country. #adultsocialcare #servicecuts #councils https://lnkd.in/epdcUKg4

After the Labour Government announced a £3.4 billion windfall for Scotland, our CEO, Angela Currie, urges the Scottish Government to use it towards critical investments in social care and housing. Angela emphasises that restoring the adaptation budget and closing the subsidy gap for new-build social housing are essential steps. Robust investment in social care is crucial to support our ageing communities and prevent undue strain on health services. At Hanover, our mission is to empower older adults to live with dignity and independence, but the current funding situation is making that increasingly difficult. We call on the Scottish Government to prioritise these investments for a sustainable and compassionate future. #HanoverScotland #SocialCare

Introduction by Croakey: The ‘cost of living crisis’ has become an entrenched framing of political debate in Australia and other countries, affecting political and policy outcomes. But is it a potentially unhelpful framing? Would there be better policy outcomes for health if we focused instead on addressing the ‘inequality crisis’? Marie McInerney investigates these questions, and more, ahead of the 2024-2025 Federal Budget (and please join us in using #HealthBudget2024).
Where is the equity lens on the ‘cost of living crisis’?

It's not long until we know who will form our next government. What will be sitting in the ministerial in tray? When it comes to local government, quite a lot. The Local Government Chronicle news team takes you through some of the big issues that will need early decisions, from unfinalised devolution deals and whether to push back the council audit backstop date, to the future of the Office for Local Government to whether to keep South Cambridgeshire DC on the naughty step over its four-day week. Any bets on the new name of the Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities? Will the words 'local government' reappear on a Whitehall name plate? #localgovernment #localgov #election https://lnkd.in/ew-HBGBs

To the Cabinet Secretaries and the President of Kenya. What a day to be alive and witness history making way across our nation. The recent demonstrations by the youth, particularly Generation Z, serve as a stark and undeniable testament to your collective failures. The resounding message is clear: incompetence, vulgarity, and public displays of opulence I public spaces and social media platforms are unacceptable and unsustainable when the electorate is left with nothing but broken promises and unmet needs in the hands of people who have been entrusted to deal with the same. Your positions were entrusted to you not for self-aggrandizement, but for service to the people. The disconnect between your lavish lifestyles and the daily struggles of ordinary Kenyans has reached a breaking point. The youth, who represent the future of our nation, have made their voices heard, rejecting a leadership that fails to deliver and disrespects its mandate. This is a call for deep introspection and immediate action. Reflect on the reasons behind your dismissal: a lack of accountability, respect, and genuine commitment to improving the lives of those you were elected and appointed to serve. The time for empty rhetoric is over. The people demand and deserve a leadership that embodies integrity, humility, and a relentless dedication to public service and not one that humiliates or downplays them. Those days are gone. The masses are wiser. They're better informed and knowledgeable. You can't lie anymore. Let this be a lesson and a turning point. The electorate will no longer tolerate leaders who prioritize their own comfort over the nation's welfare. It is time to rebuild trust, starting with a commitment to honesty, transparency, and real, tangible progress for all Kenyans. Mr. President, never think you're special. Never think that that seat was made and meant for you if you're not serving the people and the reason of being there. You're a servant and not a boss Sincerely, A Voice for the People
