Lead By Learning’s Post

As an organization that works hand in hand with teachers on a daily basis, we are always amazed by their innovative approaches to teaching! Our Senior Director, Sarah Sugarman, reflects on her 5th grade teacher, Ms. Belanger, who was always thinking of creative ways to help her students learn. One day, as recess approached, she asked Sarah and the other students to line up. She whispered something in each student’s ear, and the first student whispered back and went outside. The next student whispered back and had to rejoin the line. Slowly, more students made it out to recess, while a few came back confused. The rest of the students laughed, wondering what was happening. When it was Sarah’s turn, Ms. B. whispered, “Spell surprise.” Sarah spelled it wrong, leaving out the first “r,” and was sent back to the line. Word quickly spread about that tricky silent letter. Within minutes, everyone passed the test and made it outside! At Lead by Learning, we help teachers think of innovative, sometimes surprising ways to help students learn. Support us by giving them the time and resources they need to understand their students’ needs. Donate to Lead by Learning this Giving Tuesday!
