Ahhhhh... The Dark Forest of Leadership If there’s one thing Ted Lasso teaches us (besides the importance of biscuits and hope), it’s that life is a story—and sometimes, you find yourself smack dab in the middle of your dark forest. You know the one: the part of the story where nothing’s going right, everything’s hard, and it feels like you’ve misplaced the map. But here’s the kicker (pun intended): "Fairytales do not start, nor do they end, in the dark forest. That’s something that only shows up smack dab in the middle of a story. But it will all work out." Let’s pause for a moment because that’s a truth bomb wrapped in a warm blanket of optimism. Whether you’re leading a team, managing a project, or just trying to make it through your Tuesday, the dark forest isn’t the end of the story. It’s just the messy, necessary middle. (And trust us—every leader has been there. Some of us live there for a while.) Ted goes on to say: "It may not work out how you think it will, or how you hope it does, but believe me, it will all work out. Exactly as it's supposed to." Ah, the old “let go of expectations” trick. Easier said than done, right? (We know—Marnie has tried letting go of expectations about Nick's mood on Mondays after a NY Jets game) But when you stop clinging to a rigid outcome, you make space for creativity, growth, and solutions that surprise you. Leadership Takeaway: Making Peace with the Messy Middle Here’s the thing about the dark forest: it’s where the good stuff happens (even if it doesn’t feel good at the time). You discover what you’re made of. You get scrappy. You learn to laugh at the absurdity of it all. Most importantly, you build resilience—and let’s be clear: resilience isn’t something you’re born with. It’s a muscle. And like any muscle, it gets stronger the more you use it. So, what can you do when you or your team are slogging through the forest? Here are some ideas: Call it out (but keep it light): Sometimes, saying “Welp, we’re in the dark forest, folks!” makes it less scary. Tackle it step by step: Don’t worry about the whole forest—just focus on finding the next breadcrumb. Celebrate the tiny wins: Did you survive Monday? Boom. Win. Celebrate that. Practice resilience: Think of each challenge as a rep in your “resilience gym.” It’s not fun (burpees never are), but it’s how you grow stronger for the next big adventure. Remember: this too shall pass: Like Ted says, “It will all work out.” (And hey, even if it doesn’t go as planned, you’ll have a great story later.) Love #leadership lessons from #tedlasso? The most underrated character trait in leadership? Curiosity. As children we’re naturally curious, and we’re taught to curb our inquisitive nature, which dampens our disposition and leads most of us to tucking the curious parts of us into a small box and ‘getting on’ with our lives in order to step into the workforce. This stifles the very best in us and our teams. Curious leaders create cultures where asking questions, seeking new perspectives, and embracing change are not just allowed, but encouraged, which gives an edge to their businesses, especially in today's rapidly changing world. Are you fostering an environment where curiosity is valued so you don't fall behind? Do you encourage your team to question the status quo and explore new ideas to put your business in front of the pack? Need to kickstart your curiosity as a leader? Head to the blog for one of my favorite exercises to help high achieving leaders ignite their curiosity. https://buff.ly/3oLW4IJ #leadershippodcast #leadershipskills #soulfulleader #lifecoaching #personaldevelopmentinbusiness #personaldevelopment

https://lnkd.in/gbMitrBY These are interesting questions to ask in retrospect. For example, "If I were the main character in a movie of my life, what would the audience be screaming at me to do right now?" This will force us to look at the situation from a bird's-eye point of view. #leadership #lifehacks

Have you ever stopped to think about how much we can learn from nature? During our final #InspireHer session of the year, I had the privilege of learning from our amazing Vice President of Client Solutions, Jaimie Bell, who shared profound insights rooted in the symbolism of the lotus. It was a moment to reflect, connect, and take in wisdom that truly resonated: 🌿 Growth comes from struggle: Challenges are part of the process—they don’t hold us back; they prepare us for the future and become the foundation of our strength and resilience. Like the lotus that thrives in the mud, we grow stronger when we embrace life’s tough moments. ☀️ Keep moving forward: No matter how tough the journey gets, focusing on what lies ahead helps us rise above. The lotus doesn’t dwell in the mud—it stretches toward the light with unwavering determination. Similarly, we can always find our way forward, even when it feels impossible. 🛡️Protect your core: We can’t always control what life throws at us, but we can control how it affects us. Like the self-cleaning petals of the lotus, let negativity slide away and hold tightly to your inner strength. This session reminded me that our struggles don’t define us—they refine us. The moments when we feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure are exactly the moments shaping us into the leaders we’re meant to become. To every woman reading this: the world needs YOU. Say yes to opportunities, trust your journey, and remember that even in the hardest times, you’re blooming. 🪷 #WomenEmpowerment #LeadershipJourney

Hello LinkedIn, today makes it Day6 of #10daysconsistencychallengewithDaniel and I'm once again delighted to be a part of this. Big thanks again to the convener OYEDELE Daniel O. for this beautiful initiative. Today, I'll be harnessing effectively the Law Of Priorities. Your ability to set clear and accurate priorities on your time determines the entire quantity of your life. You really can't be everywhere and you can't do everything, your ability to effectively prioritize and delegate tasks efficiently amount to a paramount level of growth for you. The Pareto Principle accounts that 20% of your activities will account for 80% of the value of your activities. Friend, is it every event you attend? Every Religious Programs? Every hang out and social event? Wooohh! If you are presently affected by this, the key to your personal efficiency is using a good time planner. The very act of planning forces you to think better and more accurately about everything you do and everywhere you go. Think on paper! Write down your plans and prioritize. Once you develop the habit of planning and prioritizing, your stress level will decline, your productivity will increase and of course your career will take off. Think on this things; every minute spent in planning saves ten minutes in execution. PLAN - PRIORITIZE - DELEGATE and see your dreams come true. GRACIAS 🤍✨ - David Adedamola Adejumo #10daysconsistencychallengewithDaniel #Day6 #Leadership #Value #TimeManagement

"𝗨𝘀𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗜𝗱𝗶𝗼𝘁" Opportunity Seekers, have you ever found yourself championing an initiative, only to later realize it didn't align with your values or goals? Or maybe you were left wondering, Why didn’t I see the bigger picture? Let me introduce you to a term that might sound harsh but holds a valuable lesson: “useful idiot.” In a business context, this refers to someone who, unknowingly, advances someone else’s agenda without fully understanding how it might impact them or others. It’s not about intelligence—it’s about awareness. 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁: We are not here to be “useful idiots.” We are here to be informed, intentional, and impactful. Every opportunity you take and every task you own should align with your values, your vision, and your growth. If you’re feeling unsure or in the dark about a decision or direction, give yourself permission to pause and ask questions. 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲: 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗖𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀: If you don’t understand the bigger picture, ask for clarity. Leaders worth following will respect your desire to understand the “why” behind the “what.” 𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵: You bring value to the table. Don’t let anyone use your energy, ideas, or efforts without recognizing and rewarding your contributions. 𝗢𝘄𝗻 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗩𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲: Speak up when something doesn’t sit right. Your perspective is needed, and your intuition matters. 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽𝘀: If you’ve ever felt like you were used or undervalued, don’t beat yourself up. Take the lesson and let it strengthen your resolve to advocate for yourself in the future. Remember, you are more than “useful.” 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹. You are the architect of your path, the author of your story, and the driving force behind your success. Embrace the power of awareness and the courage to ask questions, and you’ll never again be anyone’s “useful idiot.” Go into this week intentional, informed, and inspired. You’ve got this. 💪 #OpportunitySeekers #KnowYourWorth #IntentionalLiving #YouAreEnough

I traveled and properly peopled for the first time in 7 years. Interacting with society in-person...having to engage in small talk...hosting 13 coaching sessions over 2 days at the Let's Talk Ops Summit... ...reminded me of a core quality of mine. 🔥 I like my life unfiltered. 🔥 Strong. Bold. Intense. No sugar coating. 🍵 I like my tea strong. Fermented puer Black tea. A good hefty dose of loose leaf. None of that weak bagged stuff. 🍨 I go for the the death-by-chocolate flavors. ⛰️ If I'm going on a hike, I'm climbing to that summit. Probably taking the steepest route up there, too. I mean, I'll pace myself, but I'm getting to that summit. My compassion and care for the marginalized? Fierce. Same goes for my equity & belonging work. Strong and unfiltered as well. My commitment to justice? Neck-deep & both feet in. I think my leaning towards life-with-no-filters comes from familiarity with death at an early age. I have always felt that I'm on my way out. Even as a kid, I've been acutely aware of how fragile life actually is. How fast it can end. Permanently. We have one life, One body, One voice, To become the best version of who we want to be. 🪴 Life is too short for slow, incremental progress. 🔥 And THIS is my secret sauce as a coach. I sift through all the BS blind spots and help fast track transformational moments for my clients. Help reach their potential by activating their ability to access courage. Sure, I could make loads of money by being less vocal. Polite. But that's not gonna happen for me. Not with the life DNA I got handed. And, so yes, this means that I'm not for everyone. 🤷🏾♀️ But if you're in the market for a no-nonsense coach to help you reach your summits....DM me, let's chat. I just might just be your cup of tea. #storytelling #power #change #leadership #executivecoaching #coaching #transformation

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗢𝗱𝘆𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽: 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗮 𝗤𝘂𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝟮𝟰 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸𝘀 Dear readers, We continue our journey through the 24 lessons of "𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘖𝘥𝘺𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘓𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱" with another inspiring quote. This week, we present lesson no. 18. 📘 𝗟𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗡𝗼. 𝟭𝟴: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝘂𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗹𝘆 𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 "𝘞𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘢 𝘧𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘬 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘵, 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘪𝘻𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘤𝘭𝘪𝘮𝘣𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘰𝘱 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘦. 𝘗𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘰𝘢𝘥 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘰𝘱 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘧𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘰𝘧𝘧." — Bambara Proverb, Mali. 🌟 This quote beautifully illustrates how seemingly minor actions can have major effects. In the professional world, as in nature, small actions can trigger great transformations. 🌱 In "𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘉𝘶𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘭𝘺 𝘌𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵," we highlight the importance of those who, by simple gestures, can propel others toward remarkable successes. The story of Mariama Diallo is a striking example. As Mariama looked to expand her professional horizons, a recommendation by Ms. Mendes to her professional network was the small nudge needed to unleash a series of opportunities that transformed her career. 💬 𝗖𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘆: Anna was a mid-level employee at a large consulting firm, known for her hard work but often overlooked due to her quiet nature. One day, her manager, Lisa, noticed her potential and decided to give her the opportunity to lead a small but critical project. This single opportunity, which seemed small to others, became a turning point for Anna. She excelled in the role, leading to more responsibilities and, eventually, a promotion to senior management. Lisa’s one gesture, like a flick of the wrist, unlocked doors that had previously been closed for Anna. Have you ever witnessed or experienced a small action that dramatically changed someone’s professional trajectory? What "flick of the wrist" have you received, or given, that created an upward momentum for yourself or someone else? 📚 Learn more: To dive deeper into these lessons, you can purchase "𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘖𝘥𝘺𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘓𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱" from L'Harmattan or online platforms such as Amazon, Fnac, Cultura, La Procure, Babelio, and others.
