#DisabledPeopleDemandJustice Too many disabled people are facing digital exclusion, preventing them from accessing vital services online and taking up opportunities. A recent publication from Audit Scotland https://lnkd.in/di2ihZDi reports disabled people are among the most affected, citing poverty and financial difficulties as a major cause of digital exclusion. It takes small but conscious, consistent efforts over a period of time for an organisation to become truly inclusive. It is a combined outcome of leadership vision, changing mindsets, physical and technical interventions brought to life by many champions and allies of the cause. I was amazed to experience a few of these myself when I joined Accenture a month ago. Here are some highlights that touched me: 1. Lift buttons in the office premises in Braille 2. Posters with important messages and call outs at each desk in Braille 3. Accessible washrooms in the office. (Well as an architect, I do have a pov that all washrooms should be designed to make universally accessible to make it truly inclusive, rather than having a separate one, but yes every step matters and this one is big!) 4. Last and the most amazing was to see an instructor in sign language (ASL) along with the main trainer during a company-wide workshop to ensure that the training is inclusive for all participants. #Inclusion #Diversity #Accessibility #Leadership #InclusiveWorkplace

🌍 What Happens After the Summit of the Future? The Pact for the Future mentions disability 13 times in its text and annexes, making welcome promises about social and technological inclusion. But Basiru Bah, Sightsavers Global Youth Champion and disability rights activist, writes: "As someone who has navigated the challenges of being a young person with a disability in Africa, I know that words on paper—whether in print or braille—mean little without concrete action behind them." 👉 On African Arguments, Basiru shares his powerful insights on the disparities that still exist in global decision-making and the three fundamental changes he believes need to happen: https://lnkd.in/e7zSnfHt #SummitOfTheFuture #SOTF #DisabilityRights

Lastly, some more important ways to be more inclusive and create a world where diversity is celebrated and valued. 1. Support Inclusive Initiatives - Involves actively participating in and promoting events or programs that advocate for disability rights. 2. Accessibility shouldn’t be a privilege—it’s a right. Yet, people with disabilities in Uganda face immense barriers due to public spaces not being designed with them in mind. It’s time we push for more inclusive infrastructure, ensuring everyone can access schools, workplaces, and essential services. Together, we can create an environment where mobility is not a limitation. Let’s advocate for change! #InclusionMatters #DisabilityRights #EqualAccess #AccessibilityForAll Disability Belongs Disability Confident Disability Rights Disability Rights Fund ILO Global Business and Disability Network

Bank of America earned a perfect 100/100 score on this year’s Disability Equality Index – for the 8th year in a row! The Index is a joint initiative from Disability:IN and American Association of People with Disabilities that measures adherence to leading disability inclusion practices. It's an important reminder that it takes action to achieve more inclusive workplaces and communities. As we wrap up #DisabilityPrideMonth, I encourage everyone to consider ways they can continue to eliminate barriers, prioritize accessibility, and #ChooseToInclude. #ADA34 https://lnkd.in/e8kViZFf

Here is another of my short videos explaining issues from my perspective as a person with disabilities and a disability activist and being invisibly disabled. being previously abled I have a unique view of disability awareness and inclusion. I see it as I was and as I am. I can tell the differences between what was, being able and what is not being disabled. The difference is shocking in this supposed, equal society. The worry for all you able people, is this! It only takes a split second to join the disabled community and then you learn the hard way. Disability Equality and Equity is a fight that continues! #inclusion #disabilityequaity #intersectionality #disabilityvotescount
