Marketing Agencies Are Promoting Themselves in the Middle of the Desert Many modern marketing agencies, often made up of fresh teams or individuals seriously working with a real business model for the first time, tend to use the approach of monthly packages. They begin by presenting the client with an offer based solely on their marketing budget, crafting packages with pre-set services and costs. I’m not here to say whether this approach is good or bad. Instead, I want to share my perspective as someone who’s learning and working in digital marketing. In my experience, marketing is more than a set of predetermined packages. It’s a game, with clients as the players who navigate the field alongside you. When new players step into this game, one approach is to present them with a list of skills and tools they might need and charge them upfront before they begin. While this is straightforward, it often lacks the insight needed to tailor the game to the client’s actual needs. A true marketer, however, doesn’t start with a one-size-fits-all package. Instead, they begin by understanding the client’s goals and objectives. They ask, "What level does this client want to reach?" From there, they build plans and strategies that are customized to lead them to success. The ultimate goal for a marketer isn’t just to earn profits for themselves through rigid packages. It’s to deliver measurable results that directly impact the client: growth in numbers and, ultimately, revenue. This requires a shift away from self-centered strategies and toward a mindset focused on the client’s journey. In the world of digital marketing, you can’t play the game based solely on what’s easy or profitable for you. Marketing is about building connections, guiding clients to success, and being adaptable to the ever-changing landscape of the market. Think of it this way: when you sell marketing as a package deal without understanding the client’s specific needs, it’s like promoting yourself in the middle of the desert, hoping someone will stumble upon you.
