🏆 A clash of titans - a new Chess world champion - Gukesh Dommaraju vs Ding Liren. 18 years old. 👏 What a match, disputed until the very end, under a lot of pressure. An honor for India, and kudos to the grace with which Ding conceded defeat. 📈 Business lessons: ✅ Master the technique, then bend it to reinvent and adapt. ✅ Time management, strategic planning (real one), prepare and surprise the competition, constant forensics and lessons learned. ✅ Your trusted “war room” and analytics team, rocking it behind the scenes. ✅ How important it is to have smart people leading performance. Yes, the good old IQ. Select the best. ✅ How critical is to invest and create ecosystems of excellence. Including women, of course. Well done India (Gukesh isn’t the only one) - Erigaisi, the Vaishalis (Praggnanandhaa/Rameshbabu)… this isn’t happening by chance, it’s been years in the making. ✅ The importance to have star mentors / coaches helping you grow exponentially. The legendary Viswanathan Anand ! ✅ Awesome observers and commentators to which you listen - the equally legendary Susan and Judit Polgar sisters ! ✅ And perhaps, the most important - humility. Look at how he is crying and hugging his father after winning. Awesome.

What an incredible moment in chess history! Gukesh D has taken a 6-5 lead over World Champion Ding Liren in the 2024 FIDE World Championship, with only three games to go. Game 11 was an absolute rollercoaster—Gukesh’s aggressive opening strategy looked risky, and Ding seemed to have the upper hand. But under immense pressure, Gukesh showed resilience and turned the game around after Ding’s blunder. Here’s what I learned from this gripping game: 1. Take risks, but calculate them: Gukesh’s bold moves weren’t random—they were carefully thought out to unsettle his opponent. 2. Adapt and keep going: Even when things looked tough, he stayed focused and turned the tide. 3. Manage your resources: Whether it’s time on the chessboard or time in real life, how we handle pressure makes all the difference. Can he make history as the youngest World Chess Champion? I’m rooting for him! #Inspiration #Chess #Leadership #GukeshDommaraju #LessonsForLife

Success, much like a game of chess, isn’t always immediate. Each piece lost along the journey teaches us resilience and determination. These are the valuable lessons we pass on to our champions. Even when they lose a key piece, it doesn’t mean the game is over. We empower them to face that challenge head-on and learn from every move, growing stronger with each step. As we begin this week, let’s remember that persistence and forward momentum pave the way to victory. 📷: Adebiyi Olaniyan #ChessInSlumsAfrica #UnveilingRoyaltyInEveryChild #ChessinNigeria #TundeOnakoya

What was the youngest World Chess Champions’ winning strategy? Preparing for the worst. In a match between two worthy competitors, 18 year old Indian chess prodigy, #GukeshDommaraju, clinched a win by creating subtle pressure that would eventually force his opponent into a defensive position. If you read the headlines, it might seem like it was reigning champion #DingLiren’s catastrophic blunder that cost him the title. But when you play the tape back, you can see Gukesh pushing his knights to break down Ding’s pawn structure as the turning point of the game. Throughout the game, our new #ChessWorldChampion prepared for eventualities, and it paid off. There are so many lessons here. In the business world, having backup plans seems redundant until they become essential. Just as Gukesh’s preparation turned a drawn game into a victory, business strategies built for ‘what-ifs’ can create breakthroughs when least expected. Here’s to back up plans, the “just in case” slides on the deck, and the contingency strategies. Kudos to Gukesh, and congratulations to India for bringing it home! 🏆🎉
