TWO STEPS FORWARD, THREE STEPS BACK: THE ONGOING STRUGGLE OF WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP ROLES The South African support for women in leadership is often perceived as merely symbolic, lacking the substantive backing necessary for women to thrive in these roles. The battle for women to attain leadership roles in South Africa did not start on 09 August 1956, but that date marks a pivotal moment in the broader struggle for women's rights and equality.

Empowering Women, Building Connections: In April, we proudly hosted our ‘Planning for the Future: The Creation and Protection of Wealth for Women in Business’ event. Female founders, advisers, and investors came together to share insights, network, and inspire one another. This marked the third event in our series dedicated to creating a global network of women in leadership roles. For us, financial literacy within the female community is crucial to achieving gender equity across society. A heartfelt thank you to our exceptional panellists - Sarah Wigington, Nicola Thorpe, Tess Newman, and Chloe Stages ACSI - for their valuable contributions on exit strategies, wealth protection, and future planning. Embracing women's participation in political governance has to be one of the biggest steps of JKUAT female students, in trying to actively be part of the JKUAT parliament. It should be recognized that there is a current gap of female aspirants' vying for the executive seats in JKUAT Students Association (JKUSA)which in a way, does reflect the national politics system. Therefore, empowering female students' not only influences the current situation in amplifying the solutions needed to improve the educational system, but also the social setting to which the students are part of. This should be said *boldly* :The aim is not to exclude the male students or demean their value but rather identify the gap that brings in an equitable capability for both genders to collaborate. The flowers of appreciation go to:Badili for the programmes , Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology for this opportunity and the JKUAT ladies for the determination. 💐💐💐 Badili Africa Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) Grace Gathoni Lilian kagai Mugalla Faith Mugo

AG Tsakani Maluleke’s words are a powerful reminder that while we celebrate the firsts, we must also focus on ensuring that these achievements pave the way for many more to come. The appointment of women like Chief Justice Mandisa Maya and Mary Vilakazi should be more than a milestone—it should be a call to action to create systems that empower and support the women who follow. It’s about building a legacy of inclusivity, access, and continuity. Let's not just break glass ceilings; let's ensure the next generation can walk through them with ease. #WomenInLeadership #BreakingBarriers #BuildingTheFuture Auditor-General of South Africa Ntiyiso Consulting Group

I AGREE! When women are supported financially, the impact goes far beyond just the individual. By investing in women, we are investing in the future of our communities. When women are given the resources and opportunities they need to succeed, they can drive positive change in society. Financial empowerment for women not only benefits them personally, but it also has a ripple effect on the economy as a whole. By providing women with the financial resources they need to start businesses, pursue education, or invest in their communities, we are helping to boost economic growth and development. Furthermore, when women are financially empowered, they are able to contribute more to the progress and prosperity of their nation. By funding women and supporting their endeavors, we are investing in the future success of our country. Lastly, empowering women financially is not just a moral imperative, it is essential for the advancement and success of any nation.
