In the realm of leadership, success is not just about individual prowess but about the relationships we foster and the partnerships we form. As a former Battery Commander, I can attest that my achievements were significantly anchored in the relationship I had with my First Sergeant. I couldn’t have asked for a better partner than this remarkable individual.
Leadership in the military transcends beyond the uniform; it’s a lifelong journey. The qualities of leadership we cultivate in service don’t fade away; they seamlessly transition into our next endeavors, guiding us in every step. It’s about carrying forward the values of integrity, dedication, and resilience, no matter where life takes us.
Moreover, the bond of brotherhood in the military is an everlasting one. It’s a unique connection that endures through time, a testament to the shared experiences and mutual respect forged in service. I am immensely grateful for Mike Andrews, for the partnership we shared, and the friendship we formed. It’s a bond that goes beyond duty, rooted in mutual trust and respect.
To all the leaders out there, remember that your success is intertwined with the relationships you nurture and the partnerships you build. Let’s continue to lead with honor, inspire with our actions, and cherish the bonds that make us stronger.

I had the distinct pleasure of interviewing Drew Forsberg of Beyond The Brotherhood!
Originally from Montauk, NY, Drew was inspired by the events of 9/11 to enlist in the military, serving over 22 years as a Navy SEAL before retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer. Early in his military career, Drew became a born-again Christian and attributes his success to the principles of servant leadership, drawing inspiration from biblical warriors and personal
lessons learned from both exceptional and flawed leaders within the SEAL Teams. Drew’s leadership journey is enriched by executive education from prestigious institutions as well as experience leading church ministries across San Diego and Hawaii.
In addition to his speaking engagements, Drew is actively involved with Beyond the
Brotherhood, an organization dedicated to supporting Navy SEALs in their transition from
military to civilian life. His work focuses on mentorship, leadership development, and
equipping veterans with the tools needed to thrive beyond their service, reflecting his
commitment to the SEAL community.
Drew’s speaking topics include Biblical warrior-ship, leading through influence, and
cultivating positive culture—areas where his unique blend of military precision, spiritual
insight, and leadership experience come alive. His talks are more than motivational; they
are a call to action, challenging audiences to lead with purpose, integrity, and faith.

I love this sentiment, and would like to expand a bit farther on it from a professional point of view in my field of logistics.
When I know a truck driver is a fellow veteran, I will always to try to use that driver over and over again.
When it is a small trucking operation and the owner is a fellow veteran, I always try to use their drivers.
See, Memorial Day is about honoring military members who made the ultimate sacrifice, but as we all know- many veterans struggle for decades after leaving service, and many have made a sacrifice we just don’t comprehend yet. When Memorial Day ends- I don’t want to put it out of my mind for months.
So helping veterans is always at the top of my list- we often don’t know the mental, physical or financial burdens others are going through.
I have to spend the money for transportation anyway, I have ZERO excuse to not do this. If the service is what I want, if the communication is what I want, if the cost is what I want (or close to it, even if above my target)- I’m going to give my business to a fellow veteran at any opportunity I can. Maybe I’m helping them keep a roof over their heads, maybe I’m helping them build their savings, maybe I’m helping them build their small business to help them realize their American dream… or maybe I’m just giving them a win on a day when they REALLY need a little win… it’s money I spend regardless.
If it matters to you- you can probably do this too in your line of work somehow, someway- regardless of industry.
As an aside- if you’re an owner operator or small trucking company that is a veteran and I’m not already aware of that, let me know. If you have specific drivers that are veterans, let me know. My DMs are always open for networking and doing business together.
Seperate from the above sentiment- if you’re a veteran who would like to join an awesome veterans group that helps build camaraderie, a sense of belonging, and has a massive support system- Irreverent Warriors, Inc. is amazing!

Memorial Day has passed. Time to put the veterans away until November, or…
You can consider their unconventional resume when making a hiring decision.
You can offer career advice when they transition from the military.
You can be a mentor in your community.
You can join your company's veteran belonging group.
There are many ways to get involved and one way to not.

Weekend's Wisdom: Leadership Lessons from General Dwight D. Eisenhower
As we reflect on history this weekend, I'm inspired by the leadership of General Dwight D. Eisenhower, born on October 14, 1890. Eisenhower's legacy spans his remarkable military career and later service as the 34th President of the United States.
Eisenhower's strategic brilliance as the Supreme Commander of the Allied Expeditionary Force during World War II is a testament to his leadership acumen. Leading the charge on D-Day, he orchestrated one of the largest amphibious assaults in history, a feat that required meticulous planning and coordination.
In the professional landscape, Eisenhower's emphasis on collaboration and diplomacy stands out. Navigating a diverse coalition of Allied forces, he demonstrated the power of bringing people together for a common goal. This approach translates seamlessly into the modern workplace, where effective collaboration is the cornerstone of success.
The wisdom we can glean from Eisenhower is that true leadership is about more than issuing orders; it's about fostering a collaborative spirit that propels a team towards a shared vision. As we face challenges in our professional journeys, let's draw inspiration from Eisenhower's strategic thinking and his ability to unite diverse talents for a greater purpose.
In the words of General Eisenhower, "Leadership is the art of getting someone else to do something you want done because he wants to do it." A timeless lesson for leaders in any field.

Respecting the Chair and the Leadership it Represents
Recently, I held a couple of meetings in a conference room that wasn't mine.
In my first meeting, some attendees asked why I wasn’t sitting at the head of the table since it was my meeting.
My response was simple: it wasn’t my chair. It was the commander’s chair.
To me, certain chairs hold significant meaning.
The commander’s chair, the Chief’s chair, the First Sergeant’s chair, and the Senior Civilian’s chair each represent leadership, responsibility, and the dedication of the individuals who occupy them.
I believe in respecting these symbols of authority and the chain of command they represent.
I am here to support the men and women who sit in those chairs, as well as the Airmen and Guardians who follow their lead.
By honoring these positions, we acknowledge the hard work, commitment, and sacrifice of our leaders and reinforce the values that make our military strong.
Remember, it’s not just about where we sit, but how we respect and support those who lead us.

When considering the empowerment of others, I reflect on the inspiring journey of the Vice President pick, Kamala Harris’s VP. His story embodies the essence of perseverance and reinvention. Transitioning from a 24-year military service to roles as a teacher, football coach, and ultimately a successful Congress campaign, his trajectory exemplifies the power of resilience and determination.
Governor Walz's narrative further underscores the significance of pursuing one's calling. Despite accolades in leadership within the education sector, he chose to explore new avenues, leveraging his diverse skill set from teaching, coaching, and military service. His story serves as a testament to embracing change and trusting in the value of personal evolution.
In navigating our professional journeys, uncertainties may arise, obscuring our path. It is crucial to acknowledge these moments as opportunities for growth and self-discovery. By harnessing our experiences and skills, we can confidently navigate through ambiguity, shaping a future aligned with our aspirations.
