Leadership is often an art of navigating tension. It can be energizing and exhausting. Joyful and painful. Rewarding and draining. You may feel confident and doubtful, optimistic and cynical, shaky and stable--all within a single meeting. You may asked to be radically empathetic and understanding of your people's circumstances at the same time as you are asked to demand accountability and not compromise on high expectations. You may be told to be humble in the same breath as you're told to take more ownership of your accomplishments. You may be forced to balance long-term goals with immediate results, or being a visionary with hanging out in the weeds. Sound familiar?? So much of leadership is about navigating tension and competing emotions but so few leadership development opportunities teach us how to do that. That's where we come in.
