Interesting to see economic growth being a top priority for the new Government; here's my take on it from a Local Government perspective with Matt Masters
In today’s episode, I sat down with Paul Woodcock, interim strategic regeneration, development, and place shaping advisor. Paul previously served as the Strategic Director of Regeneration and Environment at Rotherham Council. His responsibilities included overseeing economic development, environmental initiatives, and place-making strategies. During his tenure, he played a key role in shaping policies and projects that contributed to the borough’s growth and revitalisation. In this immensely interesting conversation Paul speaks about: · Economic Development and Industrial/Economic Strategy and what this could mean for Local Government and what are the opportunities. · How local authorities can put plans and strategies in place to grow the local economy and then how to implement these strategies. · The vital role of collaboration and the triple helix. · Finally, how to put these elements into a wider context, when creating beautiful places for local communities to enjoy. Specifically focusing on the importance of transport, residential, green spaces and culture & leisure in place making. https://lnkd.in/geZeFTWH

WHAT IS A PUBLIC POLICY LUNCHEON? 🍽️ If you’re new to the Chamber of Commerce, new to the Sanford Area Growth Alliance, or new to Sanford in general, you may not be familiar with the format of our events. No worries… we’re here to help! 😁 Our Public Policy Luncheons are a combination of a catered lunch from a local restaurant and public policy forum. These events bring business and community leaders together to network and discuss a variety of important policy issues and topics in a casual but structured manor. 🤔 After brief organizational updates from key community leaders, subject matter experts offer timely and informative presentations on a specific public policy topic each month. 🗓️ This event takes place on the first Monday of each month at the Dennis A. Wicker Civic And Conference Center at Central Carolina Community College from 11:45 am to 1:00 pm, with the exception of some summer months (stay tuned and check out our calendars on https://lnkd.in/eNrxFDKK). 🌞 Potential upcoming topics include: 🧳 The Economic Impact of Tourism with the TDA 🗳️ Why Rocking Your Vote Matters ☑️ Updates from Lee County Government and the City of Sanford, NC 🏘️ Growth in the Housing Market and Housing Affordability … and more! We’d love to see you there! Tell us what topic you’re most looking forward to! ✍️ #SAGA #lunch #publicpolicy #sanford #community #leecountync

I found this picture in an office in Restoration. It is Franklin Thomas, Restoration’s, first President and CEO and Congresswoman Shirley Chisolm. What are they looking at and what are they planning: 1. What does the future economic landscape for our people look like for Bed-Stuy and Crown Heights? 2. How do we build an inclusive political landscape for the Black and Brown agenda for all of Brooklyn? 3. How do we make sure we are represented in corporate board rooms and what does a run for Congress (and President) look like? What do you think?

Over the last two years, Blue Cross NC, led by our CEO, Tunde Sotunde, embarked on our Extra Miles Tour. This was an effort to get out of our offices, hit the road (we traveled more than 11,000 miles!) and #listen to the communities and people we #serve. I’m proud to share with you Blue Cross NC's Extra Miles Tour report. This was no ordinary listening tour. The conversations and experiences we had along the way are helping us think outside the box. We're exploring how we engage with the communities we serve and where there are new opportunities to convene and collaborate. This report outlines some of the key takeaways from our journey. The lessons and observations gathered here (plus the great ideas that we couldn’t share in such a limited space) are helping us create the roadmap for our work ahead and providing a better picture of where to focus resources and energies. This report represents an important milestone, but it isn’t a wrap-up by any stretch of the imagination. It’s the first step in the next leg of our journey to make health care better for all. Stay tuned to see what's next! https://lnkd.in/dd4JZThf
