Now we have entered the spooky season, we are all getting ready for the night excited children knock on our doors shouting 'Trick or Treat!" Have you ever thought about how this tradition began? The origins of this tradition dates back centuries, with roots in as far back as Celtic festivals such as Samhain, where people would dress us to ward off spirits. During the medieval period, 'souling' became popular. This is where the poor would go door to door offering prayers in exchange for food or 'soul cakes'. This evolved into what we now call trick-or-treating! So how does this connect to food? Food has always been central to the Halloween experience, just look at how many of us hand out sweets. It represents generosity, develops a sense of community, and is topped off with a playful exchange. Sharing food is at the heart of this tradition, no matter what types of treats you hand out after you hear a knock on your door. What treats will you be handing out this year? #halloweenhistory #foodtraditions #communitycelebration #autumnvibes #halloweencountdown2024

Here's a CRAZY idea 🎃. We all know that Halloween is based on an ancient practice to honor those who have passed, a time of remembrance, community and connection. But DID YOU KNOW that long before candy became the focus of trick-or-treating, early traditions offered more MEANINGFUL items, such as "soul" CAKES: small, spiced cakes handed out to the poor in exchange for prayers. Other items offered included FRUITS, NUTS AND COINS. It was only after WORLD WAR II when sugar rationing was LIFTED, that candy companies saw an opportunity, launching lucrative candy advertising campaigns that transformed Halloween. Nowadays, Americans spend over $3.1 billion on candy just on Halloween 🤯 . So, are we ready to rethink Halloween treats and stop this candy madness? I might be the "crazy" 🤪 neighbor handing out apples, but I'm open to other ideas that are not cheap candy or toys. What are your thoughts? Am I exaggerating or will you consider joining the "Halloween Evolution"? ✌️📩 --- #LetsEvolve #Halloween #candy #productdevelopment #manufacturing #foodandbeverage #holiday #overconsumption #nourishment

Here are a few quick tips to keep Halloween fun and safe for everyone: 👻 Be Bright, Be Seen: Reflective gear or glow sticks can help trick-or-treaters stay visible to drivers. 🍬 Check Treats: Examine all goodies before eating, especially for any allergens or unwrapped candies. 🚗 Drive Slow & Stay Alert: Kids can be unpredictable, especially in excitement! Let’s keep our streets safe for little goblins and ghouls. 🎃 Costume Comfort: Make sure costumes are safe and easy to move in.
