It feels impossible to do justice with words on a day like today, World Mental Health Day. It's especially hard when this year's theme, set by the World Federation for Mental Health, is prioritising mental health in the workplace. With the charity sector facing unprecedented levels of financial pressure, when it seems like every other day we hear news of another funder closing its application process, or yet another small charity is forced to shut down its operations...it's unsurprising that so many working in the sector are experiencing immense levels of overwhelm, burn out, and isolation. In the midst of it all, we continue to be truly amazed by the authenticity of the support found among fundraisers and charity professionals on LinkedIn. Everywhere we look, charities are rallying together, sharing advice, giving empathy, offering encouragement, and creating community warmth that is just unparalleled anywhere else. These difficult times are putting our sector to the test; and even now, the integrity of the charity world is coming out on top. There are no easy answers. But today of all days, if you're not okay, that's okay. And today of all days, you really are not alone. 💚 #WorldMentalHealthDay #Charities

This absolutely applies to any organisation, company or business! In particular I believe prioritizing mental health through proper training, support, and development not only fosters a healthier and happier workforce but also enhances productivity, creativity, and overall performance. Which is why I am passionate about what I do. Investing in mental wellness is an investment in success and sustainability and reflects a forward thinking approach. #InvestInWellbeing

10 things charities can STOP doing to improve mental health: • STOP cancelling support meetings because you’re too busy. • STOP making people feel like they’re failing if they're struggling. • STOP using HR policies for physical health for mental health. • STOP passing the buck to other people to provide support. • STOP making people feel guilty for taking a break. • STOP setting a bad example with 60-hour weeks and 11 pm emails. • STOP shaming people who are coping well but need the odd day off. • STOP under-investing in training, support and development. • STOP thinking people are "over it" once they're back at work. • STOP pussyfooting on serious issues like stress, bullying or complaints. Most of all, please, please, please: STOP writing gushy posts about how it's OK not to be OK if the truth is it's NOT OK to not be OK in your charity. Thankfully, most charities get it right most of the time, but some still need to practice what they preach when it comes to mental health. Don’t let your charity be one of them. #charity #nonprofit #nonprofitleadership ♻️ If this hits home, share to help others and give me a follow for more charity insights and inspiration 💡

In the UK in 2024, the term “How to reduce stress” is searched on Google once every 10 minutes, on average!! This alarming statistic highlights a growing concern: stress and mental well-being are significant issues affecting many people today. At the top of the NHS list for stress-busting is being active, followed closely by connecting with people. These simple yet powerful strategies underscore the importance of physical activity and social interaction in maintaining mental health. Mind Over Mountains is a remarkable charity that embodies these principles. They combine walking and talking therapy to help individuals improve their mental well-being. By bringing people together in the great outdoors, they create a supportive environment where participants can engage in meaningful conversations while benefiting from the healing power of nature. We all have a role to play in promoting mental health and well-being. For me, supporting Mind Over Mountains is one way in which I feel I can make a tangible difference. It’s one week until my challenge of riding 200 miles in one day and I have hit 90% of my fundraising target. Every contribution helps provide more opportunities for people to join these transformative experiences. Thank you soo much to everyone who has made a donation, your support means a lot! If you would like to help me in raising funds for Mind Over Mountains and be part of a movement that prioritises mental well-being, there is a link in the comments below. Together, we can help more people find the support they need to lead healthier, happier lives. #menalhealth #wellbeing

Mental Health Awareness Week is an ideal time for us all to think about our mental health, tackle the stigma around it, and find out how we can create a society that prevents mental health problems from developing. 💚⬇ This year’s Mental Health Awareness Week theme is 'Movement: Moving more for our mental health'. One of the most important things we can do to help protect our mental health is regular movement. Our bodies and our minds are connected, so looking after ourselves physically also helps us prevent problems with our mental health. When we exercise, our bodies release “feel good” hormones, that reduce feelings of stress and anger. Despite these benefits, many people struggle to move enough. There are many different reasons for this, so this Mental Health Awareness Week we want to help people to find moments for movement in their daily routines. To find out more, please check out the fantastic free resources below, provided by the Mental Health Foundation. ⬇ https://lnkd.in/eXsXtmdw Here at Capital Cleaning Service, we recognise the importance of looking after our mental health. With this and the theme of 'Movement' in mind, here are a couple of ways in which some of the Capital team are using movement to raise funds for mental health awareness and support. 🏰🏃♂️ Our Managing Director Moreland McDiarmid is running the EMF 10k in Edinburgh, on the 25th of May. Here is the link to learn more or to donate: https://lnkd.in/duFjwkqE 🏔🏃♂️ Our Office Manager Isaac Chapman is running the Isle of Skye Half Marathon, on the 8th of June. Here is the link to learn more or to donate: https://lnkd.in/dHmJ4NWa Both members of the team will be running and raising funds for the amazing charity SAMH, who do fantastic work in raising awareness about mental health, promoting the importance of it and by supporting those who experience mental health problems. We will keep our followers updated with how both of these fundraising events go! 👏 #mentalhealthawarenessweek #momentsformovement #emf10k #skyehalfmarathon #fundraising
