Is your IT department a cost – or an enabler? 🌐 In today’s landscape, IT is the backbone of nearly every organization, yet it's often viewed merely as an expense, and occasionally an enigma rather than a strategic partner driving business forward. I've noticed that IT departments still seem to be prone to the negativity bias, where minor failures overshadow years of successful operation. Perhaps it's because many of us in IT are more introverted and less comfortable promoting our achievements, especially when challenges arise. Often, these challenges require solutions beyond technical means, and this is where effective IT management becomes crucial to ensure proper planning, resource allocation, and support from the business side. These ongoing challenges will be key topics at the upcoming Lithuanian IT Executives Conference organized by the Lithuanian IT Managers' Club (Lietuvos IT vadovų klubas | CIO.LT) on December 3. I’m excited to explore a range of subjects, including IT transformation management in Lithuania's e-government sector, which, by the way, impressively ranks 8th out of 35 European countries in the European Commission’s e-Government Scoreboard. This is a testament to our public e-services being both user-friendly and advanced, benefiting citizens and businesses alike. Other discussions will explore IT trends often debated among professionals and practical questions about the business implications when an IT manager departs for any reason. I am also relieved that AI is not overshadowing the agenda. While it is definitely important and not to be ignored, I am glad to see that other critical topics are not being drowned in the vast ocean of AI. This balanced focus ensures we continue to innovate and develop across diverse areas. As a member of the Lithuanian IT Managers' Club, I look forward to the insights and ideas that will emerge from this event. Perhaps it is time we rethink how we perceive IT in our businesses. Shifting our perspective could unlock potentials we have not yet imagined. More about the conference 👉 link in comments. #ITLeadership #ITManagement #ITEnabler #ITConference

Executives and managers with strong commitment to opportunities in China will continue to struggle convincing headquarters in 2025. The reason is simple: they will be stuck between business and political considerations. Those already convinced are right that China remains a top market (the largest in some sectors), still packs potential and develops forward-looking tech and know-how. They think it’s stupid to disengage (derisk, decouple—pick your favourite) from the PRC market. At the same time, investors resent China’s unpredictable regulations, cooling economy and still tough entry requirements. Meanwhile, exciting new markets offer easier access digitally and physically. As an agent told me recently, fact-finding trips to Bangkok or Bali sound so much better than Beijing! The danger is that in 2025, much of China’s existing potential remains dormant while HQs wait for new chances to invest. Connecting the two sides will require a skillset made of strategic insight, communication and team leadership skills. Reach out for a custom proposal and bring my Dragon Suit workshop to your team in Europe, the Middle East or Asia:

📈🌍Wrapping up an inspiring two weeks at the Joint Study Weeks Lucerne I was honored to take part in the Joint Study Weeks in Lucerne as part of the CAS International Management program. One particularly noteworthy aspect of the program was the International Business Simulation, which provided an invaluable opportunity to hone my skills in crucial areas such as: ✅ Analytical skills and decision-making The simulation enhanced my ability to process large amounts of data and identify the most pertinent information for the business. This exercise demonstrated the vital importance of prioritizing data that directly impacts decision-making processes. We were required to make high-stakes decisions rapidly, which enabled me to refine my abilities in balancing comprehensive analysis with the need for prompt action. In today's fast-paced global business environment, the ability to act decisively while maintaining focus on core business objectives is crucial for success. ✅ Team-Building One of the most significant insights gained from the simulation was the value of assembling a diverse and capable team. Each team member contributed specific strengths, and it became evident how valuable it is to integrate these different skills effectively. By fostering an environment where ideas are challenged and knowledge is shared, we were able to extract meaningful insights from complex data and make informed decisions. This experience highlighted that effective teamwork is not merely about having diverse perspectives; it is also about fostering an environment where these perspectives are utilized to enhance the overall performance of the team. ✅ Internationalization strategies A significant aspect of the simulation was the analysis of market data to inform expansion strategies. I gained valuable hands-on experience evaluating different international markets and understanding the distinct approaches needed to enter them successfully. The simulation demonstrated the value of aligning internationalization strategies with both the specific market conditions and the company's overarching objectives. This reinforced my understanding of how different expansion strategies—from market penetration to diversification—can yield varied results based on the context, and how selecting the appropriate approach can significantly impact mid-term success. The opportunity to work alongside my colleagues not only improved our collective results but also provided me with a valuable insight into the dynamics of international collaboration. This journey has not only expanded my international business expertise but also equipped me with practical tools for addressing global challenges from a corporate standpoint. It was a privilege to engage in discourse with such a talented group of professionals. I am eager to apply these insights to achieve international success in my professional endeavors. #InternationalManagement#HSLU#Lucerne#CASInternationalManagement

The Four Dimensions of Cultural Intelligence: Understanding and Applying Them In a world where borders are increasingly blurred, cultural intelligence (CQ) is emerging as an indispensable skill. But what does CQ entail? Simply put, it’s the ability to navigate and adapt effectively in diverse cultural contexts. At its core, CI comprises four key dimensions. Understanding and applying these dimensions can significantly enhance your ability to connect, collaborate, and lead in a multicultural environment. 1. Drive (Motivational CQ) This dimension reflects your interest and confidence in engaging with different cultures. Do you view cultural diversity as an opportunity or a challenge? Cultivating motivational CQ starts with curiosity. Whether it’s traveling, interacting with international colleagues, or trying new cuisines, every experience builds your enthusiasm for cultural exploration. Application: Set personal goals to immerse yourself in new cultures—read, learn, and engage with diverse perspectives. Passion fuels progress. 2. Knowledge (Cognitive CQ) Cognitive CQ is your understanding of cultural norms, values, and practices. It’s about knowing the "why" behind cultural behaviors. For instance, recognizing the importance of hierarchy in some Asian cultures can prevent missteps in communication. Application: Invest time in learning about cultural frameworks—books, courses, or even conversations with people from different backgrounds can broaden your understanding. 3. Strategy (Metacognitive CQ) Metacognitive CQ is the ability to plan and interpret cultural interactions. It’s the skill of being mindful and adapting your approach in real-time. Are you observing, reflecting, and adjusting when cultural differences arise? Application: Before any cross-cultural interaction, take a moment to reflect on potential differences. Afterward, evaluate what worked and what didn’t. This iterative process sharpens your cultural strategy. 4. Action (Behavioral CQ) Finally, behavioral CQ is about translating understanding into appropriate actions. It involves adapting your verbal and non-verbal communication to fit cultural contexts. For example, in some cultures, maintaining eye contact signals confidence, while in others, it may be perceived as disrespectful. Application: Practice flexibility. The more you adapt your communication style to suit different cultural norms, the more authentic and respectful your interactions become. Why Does It Matter? In today’s interconnected world, cultural intelligence is more than a soft skill—it’s a career catalyst. Whether you’re a leader managing global teams, an entrepreneur expanding into new markets, or simply someone eager to grow, CQ equips you to bridge cultural gaps and foster genuine connections. Final Thought Developing cultural intelligence is a journey, not a destination. By embracing these four dimensions—Drive, Knowledge, Strategy, and Action—you’ll enhance your personal growth .

"Authenticity in the Digital Age: Building Genuine Connections Online" In our increasingly digitalized world, the concept of authenticity holds immense value, serving as the cornerstone for building meaningful connections in virtual spaces. Authenticity in the digital age entails staying true to oneself, presenting an honest portrayal of one's thoughts, feelings, and experiences, and engaging with others in a sincere manner. By embracing authenticity, individuals can cultivate genuine connections, foster trust, and contribute to the creation of supportive online communities. In today's digital landscape, where social media platforms, messaging apps, and virtual meetings dominate our communication channels, the temptation to project an idealized version of oneself can be strong. However, authenticity thrives in moments of vulnerability and transparency. It involves being unafraid to share both the highlights and challenges of one's life, acknowledging imperfections, and embracing authenticity even in the face of digital filters and societal pressures. Navigating the complexities of authenticity in the digital realm requires a deliberate effort to prioritize genuine connection over surface-level interactions. This involves actively engaging with others in a meaningful way, listening attentively, and responding authentically. Whether through sharing personal stories, expressing empathy, or offering support, authentic communication fosters a sense of belonging and strengthens virtual relationships. Furthermore, authenticity extends beyond individual interactions to encompass the broader digital landscape. It involves being mindful of the content we consume and share, ensuring that it aligns with our values and beliefs. Authenticity also entails being transparent about the sources of information we rely on and verifying the accuracy of the content we encounter online. By promoting honesty and integrity in our digital interactions, we contribute to the cultivation of a more trustworthy and authentic online environment. In professional settings, authenticity plays a vital role in establishing credibility and fostering collaboration. Authentic leaders lead by example, demonstrating honesty, integrity, and vulnerability in their interactions with colleagues and team members. By creating a culture of openness and transparency, organizations can empower employees to express themselves authentically, leading to increased engagement, innovation, and overall job satisfaction. In conclusion, authenticity remains a guiding principle for navigating the complexities of the digital age. By embracing authenticity in our online interactions, we can build genuine connections, foster trust, and contribute to the creation of supportive and inclusive virtual communities.
