I wish New Year's resolutions worked for me, but (sighs) most don't. For this reason, for 2025, I'm adopting a New Year's theme: The Two-Hour Rule. The idea is pretty simple: Before most decisions, pause and ask yourself one simple question: How will this decision make me feel in two hours? In two hours' time, how will I feel about: - that donut? - that first or second snooze button hit? - watching yet another episode at midnight? - either skipping that run or going on that run? - sharing that gossip? - leaving that laundry for later? - mindless scrolling over being present with my family? The magic here is the short window from sheer willpower to intrinsic motivation. Anyone can foresee and consider how they want to feel in two hours. While gym gains and good eating habits won't be visible in the mirror for another few months, I'll definitely feel differently—both physically and mentally—about a decision to opt for a salad versus fries at a restaurant in two hours. Smaller positive changes with consistency can equal huge results. Have a great rest of your year. Let's begin 2025 more mindfully. #newyearsresolutions #happynewyear #happynewyear2025

This is the aftermath of last Fridays tea. I hate to admit it but for somethings in my life I’ve become a creature of habit. Before being a business owner I was always up for trying new things. And although I still enjoy doing new things, somethings in my life have become routine and I kind of like it. When you’re a business owner you learn very quickly that the buck doesn’t go past you. It stops with you, and sometimes it slaps you right across the face. Everyone looks to you for the answers and you don’t always have them. You constantly have to find new ways to solve problems, grow the business, save money, innovate in products or service, the list goes on. You are always trying new things and taking yourself out of your comfort zone. So now, when it comes to things like clothes and food, I’ve become a bit boring. I don’t want to have to think about what I’m wearing. And I don’t, because I wear a uniform and god it makes my life so much easier. And I don’t want to have to make chooses about food either. I want some consistency. So Fridays used to be fish and chip night. But as we’re trying to loose a few pounds we’ve changed it to crusty ham cobs and chips, classy I know. And before all the health police get on my case that this isn’t exactly healthy, I know, but it’s better than kebab and chips.
