Vaccines for children 5-11 years old are finally authorized and available! I answered some commonly asked questions from parents, such as: What kind of side effects should be expected? What if their child is about to turn 12 -- should they wait until then to get the higher dose? What happens if the pediatrician's office doesn't have vaccine appointments--what other options are there to get a shot? Proud of all you do, Dr Wen.
As Dr Rubin, NEJM and Brigham & Women’s shared as he served on the FDA Advisory Panel for approval recommendations “we won’t know the risks until we begin to give” in response to adverse events in the scale of risk:benefit analysis - what additional insights can you share with parents? The 5-11 age group is a population of 28.4M, with 1.9 positive cases, 83K hospitalizations (1/3 were ICU) and <150 deaths. What is the true benefit vs risk?
Will the southern border immigrant children also be included for vaccinations ?
Thanks for sharing Dr. Wen.
Great news, Dr. Wen. Thanks as always for your work.
