🚀 The Rise of Quick Commerce and Its Impact on Kirana Stores: A Positive Outlook 🌐 The rapid emergence of quick commerce has sparked countless debates, particularly around its effect on traditional kirana stores. While some see it as a disruption, I firmly believe this shift is a positive sign of societal progress. Here’s why: 1️⃣ Tech & Internet Adoption: The rise of platforms offering faster deliveries and seamless online shopping experiences signifies the mass adoption of technology and the internet. This isn't just convenience; it's evolution. 2️⃣ Enhanced Productivity: Critics may label it as fostering laziness, but I see a society saving time for tasks that truly matter. Delegating errands to tech allows individuals to focus on work, family, or personal growth. 3️⃣ Empowering Kirana Stores: Many traditional kiranas are integrating with these platforms, leveraging digital tools to expand their customer base and streamline operations, ensuring they remain relevant in this new era. 4️⃣ Civilizational Progress: A shift like this reflects a society striving for better resource management, collaboration, and efficiency. It's about moving towards a more connected and productive way of life. Instead of fearing change, let’s embrace it. Let’s focus on finding ways for kirana stores and quick commerce platforms to coexist and thrive together, leveraging technology for a more productive and inclusive future. What’s your take? #QuickCommerce #Innovation #Productivity #TechAdoption #FutureOfRetail

Who would have thought that quick deliveries would become one of the biggest disruptions in the retail landscape, and that too in such a short span of time across the nation? Thanks to pioneers like Blinkit , Zepto , INSTAMART , this rapid delivery model is not just a convenience—it's a phenomenon that's reshaping the way we think about quick commerce. I was too sceptical about it earlier but now totally bought into it, how they are consuming data and leveraging the power of data is insane for achieving right stock orders and managing inventories. As per CLSA reports, the Gross Order Value (GOV) for this segment is projected to touch $10 billion by FY26, a testament to how quickly this sector has evolved and the massive potential it holds. Beyond the convenience, this disruption has had a significant positive impact on delivery fleets and the gig economy. With more opportunities for gig workers and an increased demand for efficient logistics solutions, this innovation is creating a ripple effect across various industries. Kudos to the visionary founders who made this possible - Albinder Dhindsa (Blinkit) - Aadit Palicha & Kaivalya V. (Zepto) - Sriharsha M. (Swiggy Instamart) It’s exciting to see where this journey will take us next! #QuickCommerce #GigEconomy #Innovation

The new buzz in town is about Q-commerce companies expanding into Tier 2 markets after establishing themselves in metro cities. Be it #Zepto, #SwiggyInstamart or #Blinkit - all have announced their foray into multiple towns & cities. While the timing of launch operations in smaller cities just ahead of festive season feels right, it is yet to be seen how will things fare in long run. In metros the adoption of Qcom was swift owing to convenience factor, especially post-Covid. Not to mention the attractive discounts that were offered on routine daily needs for faster adoption of services. Smaller cities have their own established ecosystem. Familiarity & long term relationships between sellers & buyers have been driving trade for numerous years. Convenience & quick delivery may not be as crucial here. While the adoption of Qcom may be quick owing to changing consumer behaviour, novelty & appeal to younger generation, it will be interesting to see how these companies scale up & sustain this business model, given its thin margins & reliance on volumes to maintain momentum. #Quickcommerce #Ecommerce #Zepto #Blinkit #Instamart #Qcom #10minutedelivery #Zomato #Swiggy

Schumpeter vs small business owner Quick commerce is impacting Kirana stores (scale and pricing power – sourcing directly from manufacturers and eliminating intermediaries). For eg, in FY24 for ITC, the share of modern trade and e-commerce routes for its FMCG portfolio has grown to 31%. Four years ago (in FY20) it was 17% Multiplexes/OTT are replacing single screen theatres Possibly similar impact on small pharmacies due to pharmacy chains Scale and premiumization, while benefiting consumers, may adversely impact millions of small/micro business owners at least in the short run. Will the new jobs created (gig workers etc) make up for the livelihoods impacted, one wonders

Is the future of grocery shopping in jeopardy with the rise of instant deliveries? Are Kirana stores a thing of the past? With the swift rise of quick commerce platforms like Blinkit , Zepto , and bigbasket.com 's BBNow, it's a question many are pondering. Imagine being a traditional neighborhood grocery store owner watching a whirlwind of change. It's like witnessing a culinary revolution from traditional home-cooked meals to ready-made deliveries. However, Kirana stores are not obsolete. Many are thriving by embracing digitalization and adapting to changing landscapes. Undoubtedly, it's an uphill battle, with ongoing pressure from low prices and instant deliveries that draw customers away. But we're seeing incredible shifts – from the digital onboarding of nearly 1.3 million stores about to integrate into the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), to Kirana stores still constituting a significant $800 billion industry. Challenges are inevitable, from financial strains to untenable rent. Yet there's a choice: retreat in the face of a $4 billion quick commerce segment, or stand up, innovate, and evolve. Kirana stores stand at a crossroads. Innovation and optimization could transform these challenges into opportunities. The path may not be easy, but adapting is crucial when the choice is between standing still or moving forward #KiranaStores #QuickCommerce #DigitalTransformation #RetailInnovation #GroceryIndustry #LocalBusiness #Ecommerce #Entrepreneurship #CommunitySupport #SupplyChain #BusinessGrowth #ONDC

In all the excitement surrounding the rise of #quickcommerce and its competition with traditional kirana stores, we often overlook a much more significant concern. Hear me out. The rise of quick commerce is unintentionally dissolving the sense of community that kirana stores fostered over generations. The convenience of 10-minute deliveries caters to the fast-paced lives of modern consumers. While this is a remarkable leap forward, this change isn’t just a business shift; it's a cultural one. Quick commerce has led to a cultural shift where personal relationships are being replaced by transactional convenience. For kirana store owners, this means not only a loss of customers but also a diminished role as trusted pillars of their communities. While these new models offer significant value, it’s important to consider the broader implications on traditional retail. #QuickCommerce #KiranaStores #RetailTransformation #CustomerLoyalty #CommunityRetail #UrbanConsumerShift #LocalRetail #TraditionalRetail #SupplyChain #BusinessEvolution #RetailInnovation #DigitalTransformation #ConsumerBehavior #RetailChallenges #FutureOfRetail

Quick commerce has a huge welcome from kirana stores to go local, if executed well. no, it’s not what you think. 💥 Picture this: A busy local Kirana shop, with shelves stocked, customers coming and going, but here’s the twist, this store is now a powerful node in a national quick commerce network. Through a tech-driven model, kirana owners don’t need to spend a dime on capital. They simply rent out space and manage orders, while earning a same commission for every sale. The commerce giants like Zepto and Blinkit are bypassing distributors, cutting costs on warehousing, and tapping into the heart of local communities, our very own kirana stores. Expansion: The shift is happening. Kirana stores are becoming the "dark stores" of the future, mini distribution centers that offer the same commissions without the capital burden. In return, quick commerce companies save on real estate and manual operations in low-tech areas. Now, imagine building the tech that seamlessly connects inventory management, logistics, and finance to create a robust infrastructure for this revolution. Why this will succeed? For Kirana Stores: 1️⃣ No Capital Costs – They don’t need to invest in stock upfront; quick commerce companies handle it. 2️⃣ Additional Income – Earn commissions on every sale made through their space. 3️⃣ Increased Foot Traffic – Their store becomes a part of a national network, attracting more local customers. For Quick Commerce: 1️⃣ Reduced Real Estate Costs – Skip expensive warehouses and operate through existing stores. 2️⃣ Fast Delivery Network – Build a nationwide, hyper-local logistics network. 3️⃣ Lower Operational Costs – Automate and streamline sales operations in low-tech areas. Building a platform that connects these pieces will be the foundation for success in the years to come. Great opportunity to pursue to builders Albinder Dhindsa Kaivalya V. worth running through experiments or might be worth checking some numbers. This will reinsure the trust and create more employment in the low tier zones as well #quickcommerce #zepto #blinkit #productmanagement
