Did you know? A 2024 study found that 46% of attendees visit only one trade show per year. (Display Wizard Ltd) Yesterday, I travelled to the NEC - National Exhibition Centre for #Multimodal2024, the UK's leading supply chain conference and logistics expo. Despite being in the events industry for virtually my entire life, this was my first time attending an exhibition solo. Here’s what I discovered: ⌛ Efficiency: I was in and out within 5 hours, feeling satisfied with my experience. No distractions, no waiting on others (Saskia Robinson-Rising), no coffee breaks… just me and the floor. 🗣 Engagement: We’re all guilty of walking the floor with a colleague and perhaps missing the surroundings in the process. Alone, I found myself approached more often, and the interactions felt more personal. 💡 Education: I had the freedom to attend sessions that interested me, spend more time at stands that caught my eye, and ask all the questions I wanted without feeling rushed. It made me realise how much more you can absorb when you focus on your own interests and curiosities. The takeaway? While attending with colleagues is beneficial; going solo, though intimidating, shouldn't put you off. Be open to the experience, and most importantly don’t be part of the 46% who only attend one show a year (but if you do, make sure it’s #EPS!) #expo #logistics #nec
